Thanks for stopping by at fixmyrecipe.com. I’m Chef Billy Parisi.
Our next fix goes to Cara of Kansas City, Missouri. She said she loves sushi but every time she makes it’s a huge disaster. Don’t worry Cara we’re going to turn you into a professional.
Cara first things first we need rice. And that this is what takes the longest to cook. Get your Jasmine rice with some water, bring it to a boil and then cover it. Let it simmer for 20 minutes, take it off the heat, let it stand for about 10 minutes, fork it and you should be good to go. All right Cara, our rice is forked and finished.
The next thing we’re going to do is make a sauce. You said you like spicy tuna rolls. We’re going to make a really spicy sauce. It’s going to give you a kick. All right Cara, we’re all prepped. We got our sauce together in our squeeze bottle. Now, let’s actually make some sushi.
Now, there’s no standard in your own kitchen. Whatever ingredients you like, let’s put it in a roll. You want a spicy tuna, we’re going to hook that up. All right, let’s lay our nori down and get our Jasmine rice. But before we do, put a little water on your hands. That Jasmine rice won’t stick if you do that, all right. Perfect! Spread that out really nice there, all right. And of course let’s get our fresh Ahi tuna.
This isn’t standard but I want them in there like I said it’s your own recipe. Some sesame seeds, here’s our spicy sauce that we wanted. All right Cara, nice and tight. Just roll this over.
All right Cara, we have got our spicy tuna roll done. You said you like crab we got a crab roll right here for you. Get some water on our hands here so the rice doesn’t stick, spread it out, add in our fresh crab legs. You can use imitation if you want you know what but I’m not a fan of that so I’m going to use real crab meat. And again, put whatever you want there, whatever you desire. Me, I like little cucumbers and some tapioca caviar, it’s flying fish caviar. Don’t be scared, it’s not extremely salty it actually got a little bite to it and a little bit of sweetness, actually really, really tasty.
Cara, this came together so nicely and more importantly very easily. You can do this. Remember, use whatever ingredients you’d like, put cucumber, sesame seeds, caviar, it really doesn’t matter. It’s totally up to you. It’s your sushi roll and you’re eating it. Cara, thanks so much for writing this in.
If you like some more hints on some ingredients that go on a sushi roll, feel free to email me at fixmyrecipe.com. I’ll be sure to hit you back. Come back tomorrow check out our new featured fix of the day!
