Female : I am joined by Katie Hacker for Pure Allure and we are going to make this fantastic pair of earrings.
Katie Hacker: Yes. It is a really easy way to make a really sparkly pair of chandelier earrings.
Female: And what you will love about this is that these pieces, they are already pre-made.
Katie Hacker: Yes.
Female: So all you have to do is basically embellish them. That is the kind of thing I like.
Katie Hacker: Yes, exactly. The crystals are already in set, and the piece, and then you will just attach your beaded dangles.
Female: Oh, that is perfect!
Katie Hacker: So we are going to use a selection of crystals here and some bead caps, and the bead caps—same thing, they also have the crystals set in.
Female: Wow!
Katie Hacker: So it is another way to bring the color into your middle components. And I am combining the bead cap with the donut-shaped bead here, which is a little bit unusual. Usually, you would use a round bead but this just gives you a little bit of clear in between your middle there.
Female: Right.
Katie Hacker: So we are just going to use an eye pin with the beads on it and then make a round loop at the top. I have my round nose pliers, make my loop and then we will just cut off the extra. This is just to make the center dangle there, which is the main portion of the earring.
Female: Exactly.
Katie Hacker: With the chain, of course. This is a head pin, which is the nail I had at the end here.
Female: Okay.
Katie Hacker: I am just going to make another loop, put around this pliers. I think the looping is the basic technique for any of this projects that I am going to show you today.
Female: Right.
Katie Hacker: So combining it with chain and the metal components of the crystals. To finish that pendant, you would just attach your loop to the bottom loop on the eye pin.
Female: Great!
Katie Hacker: And then, I will show you how to attach some of these other pieces to the component.
Female: Okay.
Katie Hacker: For the pendant, we have the loop at the top, and that is going to attach to the center loop on the bottom of the earring.
Female: Okay.
Katie Hacker: You just slide it on. You want to hold your beads down so that you can get it through the loop and then you will just turn it. You never want to open the loops directly apart. Always want to…
Female: Toward the angle?
Katie Hacker: Do it to the side, and then same thing with the jump ring. We are going to use the jump ring to attach this length of chain. The chain—I cut it pretty long.
Female: Okay.
Katie Hacker: And it is just adding some more…
Female: Yes, just add some dimension to it.
Katie Hacker: Yes, dimension. And then again, closing that jump ring to the side.
Female: Oh, and it just loops around like that.
Katie Hacker: So, it is just going to loop around. And then, we will go to adding the other pieces, and for this piece I added a small dangle to the end of the piece of chain.
Female: Okay.
Katie Hacker: So that is going to be here, next to the center dangle.
Female: It is just amazing, all of the different things that you can do to make it look a little bit different and really personalize it, which is great.
Katie Hacker: Definitely.
Female: And since the center component or the main component is already there.
Katie Hacker: It is all ready for you and this one actually combines two shades of red.
Female: Yes.
Katie Hacker: Which is where I took my inspiration for combining the two shades of red and the crystals, so you have the light cyan and a dark cyan mixed together, which is of fun.
Female: Yes.
Katie Hacker: It gives it more texture and dimension.
Female: Yes, exactly.
Katie Hacker: So we will go ahead and add the last dangle to the side
Female: Look at that.
Katie Hacker: Again, just closing the loop. And to finish, of course, I will attach my jump ring to the other side here, then my two more dangles with the jump ring and then attach my earring to the top.
Female: Okay
Katie Hacker: So, I will just show you quickly. Earrings usually have a loop that opens at the bottom. And so you just want to use that loop to attach your component. So it is all made for you.
Female: Exactly.
Katie Hacker: We will just put on the side here an embellishment.
Female: Well, that seemed pretty easy. Well, you bought along a couple other examples which I love—actually, a bunch of different examples of ways that you can use that same component.
Katie Hacker: This first necklace is the very same pendant that I just showed you how to make, in a totally different color.
Female: Yes.
Katie Hacker: And as the center of your necklace, I think it just gives you a whole different style.
Female: Absolutely.
Katie Hacker: And then the next pair of earrings also used to create a pendant. For this one, I did not use any chain at the bottom, but you are using chain as the foundation of your necklace.
Female: And now, blue.
Katie Hacker: Yes, create a match you set. And then the other set of earrings again, beaded head pins at the bottom, and then I actually used the earring component as a multi-strand in piece.
Female: I love that. I just think it is really cool.
Katie Hacker: It is a really great way to make a complete set and looking at the chandelier earring component as a piece that you could actually use for different kinds of jewelry.
Female: And I am really looking at these pink earrings too, which are great, and then all of the earrings that we have here too.
Katie Hacker: Yes, the earrings—with the finished component with these crystals set in, I tend to take my color inspiration for the beads from that but you could of course combine different colors to create your own style.
Female: Exactly. These are just lovely and once again, they are easy because the main component is already pre-made for you.
Katie Hacker: Right.
Female: That is great! Thank you so much Katie.
Katie Hacker: Thank you.
Female: Always great working with you. Well, next step we are going to head out to the bead show and you are going to get to met Charlotte Dixon.
