How to Make Tomato Basil Pasta
Hi, I’m Dona Daton from Bluffton, South Carolina and I’m going to be making a tomato
and -- fresh tomato in basil pasta. It’s very easy. The first thing I’m going to do is put the
water on and get it boiling real good. I’m going to start our pasta first because this dish
goes really fast so I want it all ready at the same time. And you really want some good,
bright, pretty plumed tomatoes. It’s almost cherry tomatoes and they’re really sweet and
taste great.
So we’re going to start our pan with some olive oil. I’m going to drop two or three
tablespoons of olive oil. And let’s just start slicing up our tomatoes. We’re going to
chunky, throw them on in. Throw some pepper in on them and a little salt, smash up
some garlic in there. I’m probably going to put 3 or 4 cloves and we’re going to let this
just kind of cooked down. You want your tomatoes good and soft.
Use any kind of pasta you want, I’m going to put some penne pasta in here your spaghetti
or fettuccini, whatever about a half of box serving before. Okay, you can see it’s starting
to get soft, starting to cook down and get some good juices going. I’m going to add some
basil, some nice fresh basil straight from the garden. I’m going to throw that in there. It’s
looking good. Very easy, very healthy, grate up some cheese and put it in there. That’s a
really nice flavor. There you go. Well let that melt in there real good, becoming creamy, a
thicker consistency.
All right, our sauce is almost finished, and see how the pasta is doing. Just transfer the
pasta directly from the pot into our sauce. So we’re just going to take it like this. Hey,
and we’re ready to serve it. How easy was that? Wow, that’s beautiful. Check it out. Put
some fresh basil on top of that. Just garnish it, very nice. And you can add a little more
parmesan cheese if you want. It looks pretty, delicious.
