How to Make Tuna Zucchini Elbow Pasta
Hello, this is Chef John from Foodwishes.com with some delicious tuna zucchini elbow
pasta. Alright, not an impressive recipe but incredibly delicious and it's so easy. I have
six large zucchinis which I’m going to dice in like, I don’t know, half-inch pieces. I love
zucchini. It’s such a well-behaved vegetable.
So I’m going to chop that up, some olive oil goes in the pan, some chopped garlic. Yes,
there were some green parts in the middle, I didn’t pick it out. It can’t be poisoned
otherwise I would be dead. So I don’t worry too much about that and sautéed that up for a
few minutes. Don’t brown it. I’m going to throw in my zucchini, some salts, some red
pepper flakes, some Italian dried herbs and that is going to get sautéed and sweated for
about five minutes and I’m going to throw in some marinara sauce. Now, this was
Emeril’s marinara which was on sale and I never tried it before so I thought I would try
it. And it was actually very good.
Hey Emeril, do you have any advice, what if I spill some stuff on my pants in the kitchen,
what would you do?
Interesting. That’s s great tip. We’re going to throw in our 128-ounce jar of your choice
of marinara sauce. And I’m going to fill the jar halfway up with water, shake it and throw
it in there.
Alright, that’s going to be brought to a boil then I’m going to open up two envelopes,
tuna used to come in cans, now it comes in envelopes. I’m going to open two envelopes
of nice, not cheap tuna. Get a name brand tuna. Don’t be buying the generic tuna. Don’t
buy a tuna that has the tagline, “Probably it doesn’t contained dolphin”.
So a good and nice tuna, throw it in there. We’re going to just simmer that until the
zucchini are almost tender. If you can stick a fork in, there’s still a little bit of firmness
there. I’m going to boil one pound of elbow macaroni. I’m going to boil it like 30
seconds less than what it would be boiled if you’re going to eat it right away.
Because what we do is I’m going to drain it very well, I’m going to throw it into my tuna
zucchini sauce. Give it a good mixing around. I’m going to throw in another pinch of
salts then I’m going to turn off the heat. I’m going to put the lid on and I’m going to let it
sit there for six minutes and 15 seconds. And what’s going to happen, that pasta is going
to soak up that delicious, delicious sauce and it’s going to continue to cook because it’s
so hot in there and when I take the lid off and stir it around oh my god, it is ready to eat.
It is delicious and that’s it. It’s just a simple pasta dish, it’s not impressive, and it’s not
inspiring, you don’t learn any techniques, its just dinner, so it is, and it’s good.
So give that a try. Go to the site, all the ingredients are there and as always, enjoy.
