Shepherd’s pie is one of those classic British recipe’s that satisfying and comforting but most of all delicious. Today Shepherd’s Pie recipe is inspired by well-known Irish Restaurant that I enjoy.
Hi, I'm Chef Jason Hill this easy Shepherd’s Pie recipe get it rich flavor from tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce and chopped fresh rosemary. And to make I fluff were going to bake them off in individual ramekins. A traditional recipe for shepherds pie calls for ground lamb, but people also use ground beef, today were going to make a turkey shepherds pie and I promise you'll find it just as satisfying. Before making this Irish Shepherd’s Pie you'll need to make up a batch of my garlic mashed potatoes which I need for the topping. All right, let's start by pre-heating our pan and melting down two tablespoons of butter and were going to stir in two diced carrots, two diced celery stalks, and a whole diced onion and two cloves of garlic.
After cooking about eight to 10 minutes I'm going to go ahead and sprinkle in rosemary and then were going to add the ground turkey. You know just break it up with my hands up to the pan and be sure you wash your hands after handling raw meat before you go touch anything else you don’t want to cross contaminate, get people sick in your kitchen. Now we've cooked the turkey until its brown, were going to stir in one tablespoon tomato paste, two tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, and half a cup of cup beef stock or broth, and then lastly were going to put in two cups of green peas.
Before we add this to the ramekins I'm going to ahead and put about a half a teaspoon of sea salt and a quarter teaspoon of fresh black pepper. Let's put the mix in individual ramekins and then were going to cover with the mashed potatoes I'm using 16 ounce ramekins here and were going to get about four individual servings out of this recipe the just going to pop the tables on top. Maybe about an inch of space from the top of the bowl there lastly like to top this freshly grated Parmesan cheese in about a tablespoon on each one would do. Have your oven preheated at 375 degrees because when I bake this off for about 20 to 30 minutes.
I checked this at 20 minutes in the top and you'll need a little longer so they been in there for a total of 30 minutes they're nice and golden brown. Oh, man this is the ultimate in comfort food, I hope you enjoy this inexpensive easy recipe thanks for tubing in.
