Bobby Owsinski: Now as to articulation of the intro, because again you’re all playing a little different, what is it supposed to be? Who has the definitive way of playing that? How long are you going to play it? Are you going to play it bam-bam-bam or are you going to play it bam-bam-bam or are you going to play it bam-bam-bamamam?
See what it is it’s the ending it’s the release it’s not the attack. You got those ok it’s when you come off of it. So what is it supposed to be?
Male: Well—
Bobby Owsinski: Play it so everyday can hear it. Bam-bam-bam-bararam.
Male: That’s it.
Bobby Owsinski: Okay Mike play it with them. Two, three, four. One more time. So you’re playing it, bam-bam-bam-bararam. So in other words the first note is held out to the down beat of the second. Yeah? Is that the way you play it?
Male: Yeah, I play it differently I just—
Bobby Owsinski: Okay, here we go. That should be exactly on, so let’s do that. Yeah! There we go! One more time.
Male: So, I just—so he pauses into that base drum, this is isn’t across to each other.
Bobby Owsinski: Well, yeah because his articulation is always going to be different because it’s a drum. He can only make it so long. But you guys can control how long you’re making the note. That’s the whole trick. It’s weird cutting off.
