This drink is called an Appletini, sometimes referred to as an Apple Martini. Now, there are all kinds of tini’s. There’s raspbertini’s or lemontini’s. There’s everything Tini. It’s really kind of, a take off on the original Martini although it really doesn’t taste anything like a Martini.
So, what we’re going to do is we’re going to make this drink straight up which means it’s going to go on a stemmed cocktail glass just like this and I’m chilling the cocktail glass. Sometimes, customers will also call for the drink on the rocks. But I’m going to stir this, because in mixology, any liqueurs that are clear that don’t use any fruit juice are stirred.
So, our recipe calls for two ounces of our vodka and you can use any type of vodka but we’re really kind of particular. We’re really kind of fancy people. So, I’m going to use Absolute Vodka which comes from Sweden. This is referred to as premium vodka which means that it just costs more. And I’m going to use two ounces of my vodka. You can use any type.
Then our recipe calls for an apple, sweet apple flavored liqueur. That’s a little bit on the sour side. So, if you’ve ever taken a bite of a green apple, this is what this tastes like. This happens to be Apple pucker, but also there are brands that call it apple schnapps. If it has the word apple in it, you’re okay. So, we’re going to put a half ounce of our apple, our sour apple-flavored liqueur in there. And then what we’re going to do is we’re going to stir this all up just like so, right. We want to mix our ingredients thoroughly together. We’re going to dump our ice from our cocktail glass and then what we’re going to do is we’re going to strain our drink right in like so.
Now, I’ve seen recipes for the Appletini or the Apple Martini, add a little apple juice. The reason why we don’t do that is because most commercial bars don’t bother fooling around with apple juice. So, they’re going to use the apple-flavored liqueur, apple schnapps, apple pucker, whatever they happen to have on hand. And then what they’re going to use is a cherry, because it’s a sweet drink. Let’s just hang it right on there. So, here we have kind of a semi sweet sour apple flavor drink. So if you like apple, sour apple, green apple, you like vodka, it’s a very interesting drink very popular today, Appletini or Apple Martini. Here we go.
