Hi, I’m Sandy with Afloral and today, we’re going to make a cascading calla lily bouquet. Now really, this is quite easy. We’re going to start with some of these really nice calla lilies. They come into bunch and I’ve cut a few off and we’re going to tape them together and we’re going to make them step down. From this, this will be the longest one then we have one that’s a little shorter and we’ll take those two together and then we’ll put on our third one. You can see, this is going to be cascade part of our bouquet.
And your cascade can be very long or more of a teardrop shape, depending on what the bride would like and we keep building it. It comes with some greenery so I’m going to use that. You know, when you’re buying silk flowers, you pay for those greens, so if they come with greens, try and use them. If not in the design you’re using right away, save it and use it in something else even if it's just this filler. You know what my mother said, “Waste not, want them.” Okay, and you can see now, we’re starting the cascade. It's getting longer and longer and we just keep taping those together, one stem right after the other. By the time you’re done with this bouquet, you’ll be a pro in using the tape.
Okay, unless your lily die, you don’t need a very long cascade. So here, we have five calla lilies in our cascade and now we’re going to add some more calla lilies. So what I’m going to do is take these calla lilies and put them together into your typical colonial or round hand tied bouquet and we’ll take those together as well. I’m using the light green tape because it's closer to the color of the stems on the calla lilies. We’ll put several together. You can decide how many you’d like. You always need at least 10 or 12 and after we have some of those calla lilies together, then we’re going to start adding our cascade piece. And luckily this silk calla lilies bend very lovely and we’ll take the cascade right onto the hand tied round trooping I’ve had, a lot of tape here and you can start to see now how nicely a cascade that makes.
Now, we can't have just one or two leaves, so we’ll have to add a few more of the leaves off of the bunch of calla lilies and that makes a very nice background. Because remember, if your wedding dress is white and you’re carrying white flowers, it's really nice to have a little greenery behind it because that will make it stand out and look beautiful. And tape those leaves onto this bouquet. Be careful you don’t hit yourself, it's getting along. That was a joke.
Wow, look how beautiful that bouquet is. We’re going to have to take one more flower on and then I’ll show you to wrap the stem because we’ve added so much tape on here and I think we should put a ribbon around the tape to hide it. People will not even know that this is artificial. This is a beautiful-white, double face satin ribbon and what you want to do is wrap right around your bouquet starting at the top and then kind of angle it down until you’ve covered as much of the stem as you’d like.
This is also very nice for the bride or bride’s maids to hang onto. It's soft, it's beautiful and then what I’d like to do is take some of the pearl boutonniere pins and those pearl heads will stick them in all the way up and makes for a beautiful pearlized stem. This holds the ribbon in nicely and gives you a little decoration at the same time.
When you put the pins in, make sure that you angle the pin up and not try and stick it straight in because it will be very difficult. And doesn’t that look beautiful? A pearlized ribbon handle cascading calla lily bouquet.
