How to Make a Clashing Planets Scene - Adobe Photoshop Part 2/2
And that’s our planet, it’s finished. So next, what we’ll do is we’ll do those stars we saw in the background. So I'm going to hold my Control key and press New Layer. This will create a layer below the planets group. Okay we have a new layer below the planets group. Now, I'm going to fill this with black by holding my Alt key and pressing backspace. And I'm going to filter noise, add noise. The amount is going to be set to about 10. It’s going to be Gaussian and it’s going to be set to monochromatic.
I'm then going to go to Select, Color Range, choose a black off the image and press Okay. And then press Delete. So now I’ve deleted all the blacks, and actually I'm going to undo that because I've just realized I've done something completely wrong and I'm really sorry about this. I'm going to deselect this. I'm really sorry so ignore those last steps. I'm going to turn off the visibility of our planets group. So I'm going to click the little I, I'm going to fill this with black, this layer again with black so you can redo the noise. So I'm going to hold Alt and just backspace, go Filter, Add Noise, select Color Range, choose a black. The Gaussian which is around 50, delete it and then go to Select, Deselect or Control D as we have been doing.
So now we can double-click on a blank part of this layer to open Layer Styles. We can choose Outer Glow this time, Outer Glow. I'm going to choose the little solid-filled box. I'm going to set the color to white. And now I'm just going to bring the opacity down to about 16. Now we have our stars, we can turn our planets layer back on. Now, I'm going to create that lens flare we had. But before I do that, I'm going to center our planets in the middle of the screen. So with our planets, they are selected, I'm going to hold my Control key and press I to make a marquee over the whole canvas. And up here we can see we have some align buttons. I'm going to click the middle one for these first three sections of buttons here. This will align it in the middle vertically and this one will align it in the middle horizontally. Now it’s perfectly centered, we can hold Control and press D to deselect.
Now we’re going to make that lens glare, I'm going to create a new layer. I'm going to fill it with black by holding Alt and pressing backspace. And then I'm going to go to Filter, Render, Lens Flare. I'm going to put it around about the middle and press Okay. Now I'm going to change the Blend mode to screen. I'm just going to move it using my Move tool so it’s right in between those planets. There we go.
Now the last thing to do is to add this thing which I like to call plasma. I'm not sure if it is the correct term for it but I call it plasma. So I'm going to grab my rectangular marquee tool this time and we’ll do a little box, about this big over the lens flare, on my new layer. And then I'm going to go to Select, Modify, Feather, 30 pixels. I'm going to grab my Gradient tool. I'm going to click the little dropdown arrow and change the color to multicolor. And then, holding my Shift key, going to draw a line across the box, let go and we have this multicolored feathered fill.
So I'm going to have to Filter, Blur, Gaussian blur. Let’s make it a bit smooth, I'm going to drag that real high to about 75. I'm going to change the Blend Mode of that layer to multiply. And I'm going to go and hold my Control key and press D to deselect.
And there we are, we are pretty much finished, hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial. Please comment, rate and subscribe if you like this video or any of my others. And if you want to check out some of the stuff I've made using the Adobe Products, have a look at my site, it’s www.adobe.nicnacs.tk.
