In this clip on advanced billiards, I like to show you how to make a combination shot. Let’s take a look at what a combination shot is.
In this case, I want to get the 12 ball in. So I have to turn away my contact to where my aim points are going to be. I’ve placed a red dot on the line where I want the 12 ball contacted. So in this particular scenario, if that 12 ball is contacted at that red spot, it’s going to go in this pocket. Now, I can use my 5 ball but I have to figure out where to hit it.
The first thing that I’m going to do is I’m going to take my handy dandy little ghost ball device and place it underneath. The ghost ball lined up with the red dot in this pocket. So I know that this little white dot has to be my target point. If the 5 ball weren’t there and this was my cue ball, then I would have to strike the center of the cue ball over that white dot to have the 12 ball contacted at the proper location to sink into this pocket.
But now I have the 5 ball in the way. So I have the 5 ball in effect becomes my cue ball. I have to make determination where I have to have that 5 ball struck to hit over to this ball. I’m going to use a second ghost ball device to add the second step. Now, this red line has the white dot aimed at the second white dot. So I know that I have to hit—my target point for the 5 ball is here so I have to make my 5 ball travel to the second ghost ball position to make the 12 ball go in. Now you can imagine that as the balls get further apart, it becomes more difficult. Let’s see how we make this ball work.
