Male: We use two inches foam for a headboard, now we take in our pattern and we’ve laid it
back out and pin it with place. It’s easier for me to keep it in position, what we are going
to do is take a marker and go along the outside edge where a dotted line was. And what
that’s going to do is give us our shape of our headboard. We want to mark the center top
and center bottom, now let’s flip our pattern over and do the other side. Alright, let’s line
up and pin the bottom and the top. Alright, this is the shape of your headboard on the
style we are using to look at we have the top crown. On the style we are using we are
actually going to have a shared border along the outside. For the shared border we
actually have a line on our pattern right here at this point we will cut out and will play sit
down and will mark it too.
Now since we marked we use the outside of our pattern to mark the border. Let’s line our
pattern back up again, and cannot in place. Alright once it’s pin in place now let’s start
marking the inside, okay this is the center mark to the bottom there. Flip our pattern over,
since it’s real important to use your center mark isn’t it we are going to line this pattern
up with there center marks in the last section. See at this point we are actually ready to
cut out foam out so let’s get our cutter nod and put the foam on a piece of cardboard and
we are going to use our electric knife. And when we showed you the pictures of the tools
I bet you wonder what we are going to do with this, we are going to cut the foam out with
it. Okay here is how you do it, you take your knife and you actually press down onto the
cardboard. Now, when you start cutting, you see how that work and you know your going
through because you are cutting, your hearing and touch the cardboard but you are not
hurting your table. Keep it up straight, now you will have just a little edge that maybe
still connected on the bottom just taken and you can separate that. Now, look at that
we’ve created a shape with an electric knife out of the kitchen and it gets great.
Now we’re going to cut the other side the same shape and then we are going to start with
our center panel we are going to cut that. Hit your knife to straight up and down and
listen to ad hip the cardboard and when you get to that corner just kind a work around the
corner and you can see how that’s split it open and cut it. Now, this is going to be no
problem to separate this and now we have a center section and we have our border. And
you will see in a little while how we make this work on the headboard. Let’s finish
cutting now.
