How to Make a Dinner Party Cocktail
Audra Lowe: Okay earlier we got some tips on throwing a stress free dinner party now how about serving a stress free drink. Jordan Reid and Donatella Arpaia mixing it up, take a look.
Jordan Reid: So making a signature cocktail your guests enjoy right when they arrived is such a great idea, I love it. This is absolutely delicious, how do you make this?
Donatella Arpaia: So it’s spring time so I just—I love these fresh ingredients and it really makes a difference. So stay away from those pre-main mixes in the stores this is really, really fresh and wonderful raspberries fresh and you want muddle. Get more tension enough too by muddling—
Jordan Reid: you can take everything now—
Donatella Arpaia: Can we have some fresh lime juice, squeeze it in. You should still better using fresh ingredients and getting inspired people taste it.
Jordan Reid: It really does make such a big difference doesn’t it?
Donatella Arpaia: It makes such a big difference—
Jordan Reid: I mean imagine raspberry syrup, and this is of course fresh raspberries.
Donatella Arpaia: No good. Okay, a little simple syrup. You can make it as sweet as you like I don’t like drinks that are overly sweet and since it’s a cocktail at the beginning of the evening I don’t want to kill the palate so I don’t make it overly sweet the raspberry sweet enough. You need some ice and some vodka. You have a good hand, have you don’t this before?
Jordan Reid: I had in fact in this for many years yes. So pretty.
Donatella Arpaia: And add a little garnish I have some beautiful blackberries for garnish. Yes, have fun.
Jordan Reid: What is this called?
Donatella Arpaia: Whatever you want it that’s a whole point of your signature cocktail you can name it after yourself, you can name it after whatever is going—whatever the occasion—
Jordan Reid: Fresh Raspberrytini.
Donatella Arpaia: I like it.
Jordan Reid: I like it too. Thanks.
Donatella Arpaia: Cheers.
Audra Lowe: And you guess that Donatella got one more stress free tip. Have a sip of wine or two while you’re preparing for your party to help you relax after all a happy host means happy guest too, right?
