Hi, it’s Miranda from Custom Crafts and today I’m going to be showing you how to make this beautiful napkin holder for your holiday table. It is super easy; you’re going to love this. I love this. One of my favorite things because it’s so easy, all we used is some Ten seconds metal. This is the red barn. We have on our customcrafts.com and we also use this cuttlebug die holly ribbon. It’s the same one that we used for our center pieces to hold our flowers. We did that in another video so check that out so grab your cuttlebug and some metal and let’s get started.
So to get started, you just going to need a paper towel holder and you’re going to cut off 2 inches from the paper towel and this is going to be the piece that we use to wrap your metal around so that it has kind of a back bone and keeps it more sturdy for you. And our metal itself we cut is 6 ½ x 2 ½ so that you have a little bit wider than the paper towel holder so that you can cover it up completely so you don’t see any of that brown coming through. And we are going to debase our metal.
Again this is the cuttlebug die holly ribbons and this piece is actually going to fit perfectly in here and you want a debase so you’re going to have the color facing down and the silver metal facing up and you will know it’s right because of the cuttlebug word on top. And we are going to run this through our cuttlebag putting in between our two B plates together with our A. And again as we mentioned before, this metal just in bases or debases is beautifully—have our piece here and this is actually going to be covered up because it does overlaps so you don’t have to worry about that.
And the only other step we have to do before we cover our paper towel holder is go over it with some craft gold paint. This is if you wanted to get this exact color, it is folkart metallic pure gold. Does have a metallic pure gold, it does have a metallic look to it, it is awesome. So just get your brush and coated and you’re just going to coat it down and cover all of your metal. Once you have all of your metal covered and you know that it is done really good into your design, we are just going to wipe off all the excess with the paper towel and you want to press firmly so that you know the paint is going to be done really good into all your crafts.
So once you wipe off all the excess, you’re going to just—if you’re going to be making multiple of this, I’m sure you’re not just going to be making one napkin holder. You’re going to want to dry them off quickly or even just let them sit overnight. But if you want to do it all at once then you can use your heating tool. Once your metal is dry, not is the time to cover your paper towel holder and we’re going to be using some of our score pal tape. Need some double sided tape here and we’re going to put it on the end piece here to start. And you’re going to start at one end and just wrap all away around.
You want to kind to keep it in the center so that you can fold your edges over once you’ve covered the whole thing and just role with it. Once you’ve come back all the way around, so you’re going to have another piece and just close it off. You want to try to get it close to the edge so that it doesn’t peal up on you. And bring it together; glide some pressure here right where your tape is. Got a Beetle song in my head, “Come together, right now.”
Now we’re going to fold our edges so that we’re covering up that holder. None of your guest will ever know. But of course your girlfriends are going to want to know how you made them. Beautiful and now just do the other side. Perfect! Now you have a beautiful paper towel holder and we just need to put it together with our napkin so that it looks like that. And I’ll show you that technique also.
Just have a red cloth napkin and you just—for ours we decided to do the fun effect. We just fold it over and back and just continue a whole link of your napkin. Super, super easy. Put it down into your holder and –beautiful.
So that’s it, our napkin holder is complete. This is really going to put the final touches on your holiday table. I hope you enjoyed it and we’ll see you next time. Bye.
