This episode is brought to you by awsomedrinks.com, where the best drinks begin. And, Cavalino Tequila, rated best.
Welcome to Common Man Cocktails, I'm your host Derrick Schommer. Today we’re going to do Frostbite. That’s a pretty cool name. This is going to be a cocktail, cocktail in a cocktail glass, martini, I don’t know. I think it’s a cocktail. We’re going to use one of our sponsor today, we’re going to go with Cavalino Reposado, one of my favorite reposados. We’re going to go with a little curacao, I like the curacao, makes everything blue, frostbite you need a blue. But, to get the frostbite, you need to have a little white so we’re going to put some heavy cream in there so they're going to battle it out for this great looking sky blue. We’re going to use just a tad of the Crème de cacao that’s about half ounce and one quarter ounce of Crème de menthe. Mint it up a little bit and I think that’s it. Oh! I forgot to mention the last episode or probably the one before that, go to everydaydrinkers.tv, register, log in, sign a little comment on one of the last four episodes and you're entered to win a couple of those tiki godheads that I had if you go back to the zombie episode, you’ll see the tiki godheads, we’re going to give two away. I'm going to have awesomedrinks.com ship them to you if you're in Canada or United States. It’s all good? Get that over with, let’s get going.
All right, so let’s build in our little glass here, we’re going to go to the cream first. Two ounces of heavy cream, yes I said ounces, that’s a lot of heavy cream. But it’s good for you somehow. Now we’re going to do one and a half ounces of tequila, I can't read my little thing anymore. Maybe I should have done the cream last. Does this sound strange because I thought this is pretty strange, cream, tequila, curacao, a chocolate, mint. It works. We’re going to do three quarters of an ounce. It’s a lot of the curacao. So I'm not going to mix it, you have to just let it sit there and kind of feed into existence. Do a half ounce of the Crème de cacao. This will give it a little chocolate taste. Now you're going to have cream so the chocolate is going to kind of naturally go with this like a milk chocolate. And a little hint of the mint, just a quarter ounce. There you go. Crème de menthe will overpower almost everything you put in your—so, use a little. Ice it up. This is going to be in a cocktail glass, so take one out of your freezer so you get a nice chilled cocktail glass to really make this a delectable cocktail. Shake it up, all right. So you can already see the heavy cream coats everything. So it’s going to coat your palette just like that so you're going to get a very smooth, relaxing style drink.
A little martini glass from awesomedrinks, pour that out in there. If you shake it aggressive enough, you’ll get a bunch of tiny little cool ice diamonds in the drink. There's no garnish for this, nothing’s really needed, it’s by itself, is just crazy and I don’t know what you’d garnish, that celery with this or maybe like one of those dress-a-drink’s chocolate garnish. I feel a little too much there. Bad me.
So what you're getting here is a baby blue, very little scent to it at all. All right well, you definitely will tell it’s got tequila because I'm using the reposado, it’s got a little more like right in your face tequila agave flavoring, not burned, just a good, smooth agave. The cream is more of a coating than a real flavor that you're going to get. I don’t get a lot of mint. You get a lot of mint. Jennifer is all about the mint. She says she tastes mint, I think it might be a little of the reposado playing tricks on your palette, I don’t really get a lot of mint. There is the chocolate. It almost feels like it should be chocolate from the thickness. So I think that’s pretty neat.
Overall, all the ingredients work well together, which was a surprise to me, I didn’t think that would be how this played out so I made sure to test it first, one and a half ounces of tequila is pretty hardcore. So there you go, that’s the frostbite and that uses our Catalino Tequila, who’s sponsoring the episode. Wouldn’t put it in my drink if I didn’t believe it was going to be topnotch for a great price. One more time. It’s like a milkshake. It’s dancing on your tongue.
There you go. I'm your host Derrick Schommer. We’re teaching you how to drink.
