This drink is called the Harvey Wallbanger and it’s a pretty historic drink. No one drinks it anymore, but it’s probably around for at least a hundred years.
So you got your—basically three or four count of vodka. You got your OJ. And then, unlike a Screwdriver, you have your Galliano which is, as they say, floated on top, meaning you just got to put a little drop. Don’t let it get too much in there. It kind of sweetens up the drink a little bit. This is an Italian liqueur.
The reason this drink got its name Harvey Wallbanger is because way back in the day, I don’t know what year it was, this guy used to order vodka and orange juice together. He also liked the Galliano on top. So every time the bartender went to pick up this very tall bottle, he would bang on the wall, and the guy’s name was Harvey. So he’s like, “Hey, get that Harvey guy that wallbanger thing.”
So that’s how it came to be. A little trivia impresses the ladies.
