Hey what is up welcome to threadheads.
So last week we talked a lot I guess about Drillbit and the Cold Spice 76 remarked that they liked the hut that I was wearing. So this week, we are going to go over and meet the designer behind them all Humble Bumblebee.
Hi I am Brenda and my company is Humble Bumblebee. Last week, you guys left a lot of comments about the hut that Carin was wearing so to speak. We are going to show how to make one.
Your first step is making your pattern, you are going to measure 2-1/2 inches and put a mark here. The next thing that you are going to do is measure 2-1/2 inches. On your other side you are going to measure three inches. You are going to connect your lines with a straight edge. The next step is to do the top of the hut. Again, on the other straight ends is seven inches and I am going to put mark at 3-1/2 which is the centerpoint. Now, that I have those two marks. I am going to take my ruler and measure out three inches. I am just going to kind of freehand this to connect it, so I am going to take my line from that mark and just bring this right to the corner and then do the same thing on the other side.
Next up, I am going to cut out my pattern. You have here a piece 22 inch by 12 inch a piece and then you are just going to fold it in half. When you put your pattern pieces on, here you want your three inch side on your folds. I am just going to put this just right on the fold and put it down.
Now, I am going to take the top part of the crown and the long side the seven inch side right on the fold. Your next step is cutting out your pattern. Now, we have our pieces and we are up to our solution. Tape your long piece and we are going to stitch it together at the open ends. You are going to use a 5/8 inch in allowance otherwise our top part will not fit from here properly. Now, that we have that stitched that together, we are going to open it up and stitch this part down flat.
This is the inside and this is the outside, see I have a nice detail going down on each side as you have seen. Now it is time to touch the top to the brown and if you look at your piece you can tell one side is going to be a little longer than the other and line that up with my scene that I just made. Pin this all the way around. Now I am going to stitch this on, what you want to do next is cut a little triangles all in here. This makes it so when we put it inside out, everything lays flat so you turn this inside out and we are going to use the same technique we did on this here. On the inside scene, here we are going to put a stitch down on each side of those scenes. As you are around you are just going to open the inside up and lay them nice and flat, so as your needle comes across the middle. Catch each little piece.
Okay, I got around the second time on the other side of the scene. I am all done stitching that part. So, as you can see what I have done, I have opened those into my triangles that I have cut out and I just stitch them on each side of that scene so they will lay flat. And then, when we look at the outside it has this great little detail on each side of the scene.
Okay, your next step and you can use pretty much anything for this. You can use lays, another type of felt or fabric, I love biostape. The biostape is going to help keep the shape of the room of your hut so it does not stretch out and we will give it a nice finished edge and we are going to sow that on and now we have a nice clean scene, everything is folded under, nothing is going to fray.
The last step we have to do before we decorate is put a little zigzag stitch on each side of our hut and punch a little hole for the body pins to fit so it will stay on nice and secure. This keeps your hut on your head. They are a little tough to keep it on without the body pins and we are ready to decorate.
Okay, so I tact this down about four times, now I am going to tape my button and we are all done, we got out hut, we got our feather, we got our button, and we are all ready for a cocktail party.
So, thanks for watching, I hope you learned a lot. You can visit me at humblebumblebee.com. There are great holiday gifts that if you cannot make one yourself get one from me.
After our defeat on Alduran, we decided that we have to rethink our strategies.

Hey! Welcome back to show, we got a bunch of questions and comments here that we are going to answer. Ms. Fair, I am going to miss holloween in Wednesdays so are we. But obviously we saw there is such a outcry for costumes that we are going to be doing some more shows throughout the year showing you how to make whole costumes.
Costumes specials.
Costumes madness and if you are wondering what to do with your Wednesdays from now on and a couple of more weeks, we are going to have a DIY winter wear.
Winter wear (Singing)
Something like that.
Our next question comes from Ali. Ali wrote your show is where it shows on how to make things instead of touring places instead of touring places like crafts areas are much more interesting. Well, then you are really going to love it when we go to stitch next week. A crafts fair in Austin, do not worry we are going to show how to make something too.
Alright, we got a Sonny and Sue wrote is there a site that has a bunch of incredible templates or patterns to make different things? That is right, if you are at _____.com just click on the banner above birdstyle.com, they have tons of open source of sewing patterns and they are free.
They are free, I do not pay for patterns and in other news we found the winners of our DIY disaster book contest where winners win the subversive sinister and so it is subversive the best video by far totally came up from Kate Hut who definitely deserves this set of books.
I am cannot make fashion so many times to save my life, I am embarrassed to even show the scenes I just cut this too short and that band was wrong. I do not know what I did. If you are right. The fact that there is a huge gap it is safewood and it is just really bad. I could never this in public.
Kate Hut stay strong these books are going out to you today, I think that is it. I think we are out of here. But if you got any videos or if you want to just leave like a comment.
Comments very exciting.
Down below, we love those things.
So, next week Austin crafts fair. Peace.
