Dick: Pull over.
Laura: Yes.
Dick: What do you see here?
Laura: I see lots of leaves and irrational log.
Dick: Well, you will be surprised to know that this can be made into a comfortable place to spend the night. It is called the log bivouac. And if you happen to be traveling trail, it is getting dark of you are lost. You need a place to temporarily place to stay this can be it.
Laura: This is not making sense to me, how are we suppose to sleep?
Dick: The word bivouac is a French word and it means temporary stay. That is exactly what this is going to be, I am going to show you how to do it.
Laura: Okay, on the ground?
Dick: On the ground.
Laura: Okay.
Dick: For a log bivouac, the first thing you need is this large log as you can find. Be sure that it is dry. Then comes a roof, we can do this with poles that are pushed in over the top of the log into the ground. And covered with garbage bags or a small tarp if you happen to have one.
Then we make a bed and we can do that by using counter vows that are crisscrossed or leaves or a combination of both so that it is really comfy. Then of course, you need some fire to keep warm and here we are going to make a long fire about four feet long. When are not going to cut up the root we are just simply going to be pushing it in. In that way we utilize all of it, do not have to bother with chopping it. Then we lie down for a nice comfortable sleep.
