Make a beautiful woven heart envelope that contains a Victorian inspired Mother’s day card from jeanbenedictsideasinfive.com. First, I’ll make the woven heart envelope using gorgeous paper and embellishments. To make the heart pattern, print out the letter U from your computer using the century gothic font at 500 points.
Measure from the outer edge of the rounded part of the U to 4 ½ inches long and mark a line across the width, cut out the U. Measure three equal distant points across the width of the U. At those points, mark two lines along the length up to three quarters of an inch from the rounded edge. Cut along the lines and this is the pattern for your woven heart envelope. I have three coordinating papers and I’ll fold the floral paper for ½ of my heart. Place the pattern on the paper aligning the straight edge of the pattern to the fold. Trace around the pattern.
Lift the middle flop of the pattern and trace along the edges. Cut out the floral paper just as you did the pattern. The other half of the heart will be made from the green papers. So I use the pattern to make it as well. Position the heart half’s as you see here. Take the first green flat and insert the first floral flop into it. Then slide that first green flop inserting it into the middle floral flop, and then insert the last floral flop into that first green flop and that’s your first row.
Two more to go. This time insert the middle green flop into the first floral flop. The middle floral flop into the green flop and the green flop into the floral to complete the second row. For the final row repeat the same weaving process you did for the first row.
Open it up and you’ve got a beautiful heart envelope. Time to decorate the front. I found this vintage look paper with great images and I’m using double stick tape to put this end take floral image on the envelope. I also threaded a pretty button with French Ribbon with a tie and a bow and I’ll use a blue dot to put it on.
These blue dots are great they have a super strong hold and you can buy them at the craft store. That’s perfect. Any mother would love that. Now for the card, use the envelope as a pattern and trace a heart onto a nice card stock. Cut out the heart. To decorate the card I’ve got another antique image that says “Mom” A little metal picture frame and some gorgeous rose and high drink stickers that are arrange in a collage on a heart card. And using stickers makes card decorating very kid friendly.
What am I going to put into this frame? Pictures of the kids of course. These are photo stickers that I got from confetti.com and I’ll put the kids right in the center of Mom’s heart right where they belong. I’ll pull out little pieces of the glue that to attach the frame of the card.
Center the frame on the picture and you can just imagine how much mom is going to love this precious handmade card. On the opposite side, I created a collage using Hydrangea stickers and use antique typewriter key letter stickers to spell Mom. Insert this Victorian inspired card into your woven heart envelope and give it to Mom with a lot of love on here day. Happy Mothers Day from JeanBenedictsideasinfive.com.
