Hi everyone I’m Dyann and welcome to Dyann Bakes. And today we’re going to learn how to make a paper cone better known as a cornet by suing a piece of parchment paper. Now this triangle is part of a pack of already pre-cut paper and if you do a lot of work with melted chocolate or with decorating cookies, I highly recommend that you buy them pre-cut. They save you a lot of time and aggravation. I find these large ones a little difficult to work with so what I’ve done is cut it into two smaller ones and that’s what I’m going to demonstrate for you today using melted chocolate.
Maybe you can see here, I’ve taken the triangle and I’ve labeled it. A, C and B. My right to left and it’s really very easy to do. So with your dominant hand, pull the center of the triangle and take the letter A and twist it under and bring it up to the C. The objective is that you want to get both points up to this center point. So you can see that the beginning of the cone chip is starting to form. Turn it over and then take the B corner and bring that around. So there is the cone. Now all three, A, B and C are at the top of the cone. And perfect.
You want a smaller hole as possible in your cone because then you can snip away and you can make it as large as you like. When you’re dealing with chocolate you want a teeny tiny hole because if you’re going to do writing and things like that, you just need it to be very small.
So if you’re new to making these, at this point in time you can put a piece of scotch tape to hold it together. But trust me in that the better you get it, the tighter they are made. And all you have to do is fold it over a couple of times. I like to fold it over twice. So there it is. And there’s no light coming through. Absolutely perfect.
So here’s my plate and I’m going to write “happy birthday” on the ream. I’m sure you’ve gone out to dinners, special occasion, birthday, anniversary, and they do know in the restaurant that it’s a special occasion so out comes the plate, decorated with the word “happy birthday” on it.
Here I have melted chocolate which happens to be dark chocolate. That’s my favorite. I just melted it in the microwave. It’s really pretty easy. And take the cone with the seam facing you, fold away from yourself. Fold in the right side. Fold in the left side. And then fold in the center and work it all the way down until the chocolate is all the way down at the bottom of the cone. See and nothing’s coming out yet because my hole is so small. And now I’m just going to cut it. So I see that I have a steady stream and I am able to write with it. Happy Birthday. I’m going to dot my I. Cross my T. And there you have it.
Now think about it. Next time there is a birthday in your family, just melt some chocolate and make a paper cone or cornet and write “happy birthday” at the edge of the plate. It looks so fancy, so fun.
Thanks for joining me. Hope to see you next time.
