Welcome to the art of making paper flowers, this is a video created to show the basics on how to create a beautiful yellow crepe paper rose. First, cut out all of the paper flower petals. Then gently pull the petals to shape as explained in our book. Next, cut the leaves with pinking sheers using two layers of crepe paper. Place the leaf on the table then fold up top layer, apply glue to the edges and the center of the leaf. Place the stem on the center glue line and fold top layer back down and press firmly to secure. Turn leaf around and fold top layer back to glue line. Apply the glue to the edges and press firmly down to secure.
Draw one petal into a small cylinder and place a glue line in the center of the petal then place the stem on the glue and roll the petal around the stem and twist. Take a petal, apply glue to the bottom of the petal, then place petal across from the center petal and press to the stem to secure the petal, twist it around the stem. This will also give a natural more professional look to the finish flower. Stager each row of the petals a little higher on the stem each time around as you build the flower it will look more like mother nature did it.
After adding the final petal, make sure you have your flower positioned the way you want it, then press the bottom of the flower firmly and twist so the glue adheres to the flower and stem. Secure all your petals with a thin small wire. Wrap it around the flower base and secure it tightly.
Now, that the flower is secure, we are going to use the calyx pattern made out of green crepe paper. Next, apply glue to both edges across the top and three lines down the center area. This will make it more secure. Next, position your calyx on the stem and base of your flower by wrapping it around then twist to secure.
Next, tear off approximately eight inches of floral tape and position on the calyx, just below the points of your calyx. Start wrapping your floral tape around tightly until you have used up all the floral tape, then press and twist firmly until it is secure.
Next, take your leaves and tear off approximate two inches of floral tape then start at the bottom of the leaf and wrap it until your floral tape is all used and secured. Then proceed to do this with all of the leaves that were made previously. Now, take one large and two small leaves for each grouping. Pick up large leaf then add a small leaf off to the right side so it is positioned where the green floral tape is touching each other and twist the wires together, then proceed to the left side using the same process.
Now, take approximately 10 inches of floral tape and wrap from the where the leaves meet and proceed wrapping down the stem to the end. Proceed to do this with the next two groupings of three leaves. Now, the final stage, we are now going to take our three leaf groupings and attach them one at a time to the stem. Start by taking a leaf grouping behind the rose a little higher than the rose petals then twist the wire securely around the stem. Then you will begin to wrap your stem with floral tape. To secure the leaf groupings and this also hides your wire.
Next, attach your next leaf grouping approximately two inches down and off to the side then twist the wire around the stem and wrap the floral tape. Then again, approximately one inch down on the other side at your last grouping, twist the wire and wrap with your floral tape to the end of the stem. This is your final product, beautiful yellow rose. We hope you enjoyed our video.
