How to Make a Perfect Manhattan
Today, I’m gonna teach you how to make a perfect Manhattan. Now, interesting story about this drink. In 1874, Winston Churchill’s mother, yes Winston Churchill’s mother, actually she was American and in the States, in New York, she had a party, and the bartender there created a new drink called then a Manhattan. It’s very popular.
Now, what we want to do, start out with a cocktail glass and you want to chill that, just a little bit of ice, little bit of water, gets that nice and cold. Push it to the side for now.
Take your shaker glass. All right, again with some ice. Now you wanna take some bourbon, about an ounce and a half. And about three quarters of an ounce of sweet vermouth. There you go. Add a dash of bitters. There you go. This isn’t actually alcoholic. You don’t have a lot of it. It’s a very interesting taste.
Now, you stir gently. There you go. And back up. Grab your strainer. Now, don’t forget the cherry. Must put the cherry in and pour it over the cherry. It releases the flavors. Now the only last thing you need is you need is an orange peel so what I have here is an orange and a zester. It’s a very cool little item in here. See this line, I’ve got one already. What you do is you come in here and you just peel that. There you go, comes off. Now, if you like you can actually do a little twist here which is kinda nice. Do a little turn. When you bring it into the glass, roll it on the side of the rim but don’t drop it in. So do what I did there, except not dropping in, and you will have yourself a Perfect Manhattan.
Remember, drinking is something that doesn’t mix with driving. So please be safe and we’ll see you next time.
