This video bartending lesson is brought to you by American Bartenders School where in just one or two weeks you can be fully trained and ready to work as a professional bartender.
The drink that I like to show you now is called a grasshopper which has a very rich minty, creamy flavor so it’s a great after dinner drink because mint refreshes the breath and it’s creamy and it’s rich flavor; so like mint, great drink.
Because it uses a cream base, we’re going to shake it. We’re going to put ice in our tin mixing cup. Recipe calls for two ounces of coffee cream so that means it could be half and a half for every half of ounce of coffee.
Half ounce of our white crème de cacao which is our clear sweet semi-chocolaty flavor liqueur and then we’re going to use our green creme de menthe which is a very sweet minty flavored liqueur. So, liqueur has no sugar in it. A liqueur or cordial is sweet. It has sugar added to it.
Half ounce of our green creme de menthe, place our glass mixing cup in here, get a little twist to seal it, shake it, go tap on the bar, break the seal, catch the mellow part, now the glass part will also crack it, use your strainer. We don’t want any ice in there.
About a quarter inch or half inch from the top so we will serve it or when you drink it, and we’re not spilling it all over. And there we have it, our grasshopper, sweet, creamy mint flavor, slight taste of chocolate, great after-dinner drink. Enjoy it.
