Anthony Caporale: Welcome to the Art of the Drink video podcast. My name is Anthony Caporale and this week is our last week with our September drink art girl with me.
Female Speaker: Oh, I am so sad we're leaving. I have had a great time though.
Anthony Caporale: Thank you so much for being with us.
Female Speaker: Oh, no problem.
Anthony Caporale: Well this week we're going to do our second installment in the art of the drink classic cocktail series. We would be working on a Presbyterian.
Presbyterian is one of those drinks that you can make with pretty much any liquor you want. It's traditionally made with a blended whiskey. We're actually going to use Bourbon because you might not know this, but September is actually natural Bourbon month. That's why we did two Bourbon drinks this month.
Okay. So we're going to finish the month with another Bourbon drink with Bourbon Presbyterian. Presbyterian is any liquor mixed with ginger ale and soda water. It's almost a highball and we'll talk a little bit more about the highballs next month.
Soda water, I often get questions from people what's the difference between club soda, seltzer, soda water, tonic water, all that good stuff. Check out the blog artofthedrink.blogspot.com and I go into all of the differences, but this drink is ginger ale and soda water.
Real simple drink, but again absolutely one of the tannin of cocktails that everyone should be able to make. Some people will order it as a prez or a pres, but the full name of the drink is the Presbyterian.
Highball glass, full of ice start, lots of this, always the top. Now, we have a soda gun here out of the drink and for those of you at home who do not, you can just use ginger ale soda water. But I want to let people know what I am going to be doing because I am going to be pouring the liquor at the same time that I am putting the soda in the drink and that mixes the drink for me.
So what I am going to do is I am going to switch halfway through I am going to start with ginger ale and halfway through I am going to switch to the soda button, so it might be a little hard to see and it's ounce and a half of Makers Mark Bourbon. So ginger ale and now soda water and that's it.
Female Speaker: That's fastest drink we've made this month.
Anthony Caporale: That is fastest drink of the month, exactly and the nice thing about that making it that way, you don't have to shake it, you don't have to roll it. It's one of the few drinks that you'll ever see me serve just the way it comes out of the gun or just the way it comes out of the bottle just like that. Between the coordination with the soda and the way that I make the drink, that drink is premixed, so ready to go. So soda and that is your Bourbon Presbyterian.
Each week our art of the drink video podcast prize package will consist of a Makers Mark apron, a copy of my art of the drink volume one bar essentials DVD and a limited edition version of that special touch of Makers Mark cookbook not available in stores.
Female Speaker: Let me fill this up all away with ice and I got my Makers Mark and my glass.
Anthony Caporale: Ready, ginger, soda --
Female Speaker: All I need is a straw.
Anthony Caporale: Bourbon Presbyterian.
