Hi everyone. Today’s tip is a very Asian on a theme that we visited before. How to properly prepare your pan. It’s a key element to successful baking.
Now sometimes in a recipe, in addition to greasing your pan, the recipe will suggest that in order to create a non-stick surface on the bottom of the pan, you line it with a round of parchment paper. So today, I’m going to show you an easy way to make a round of parchment paper that will fit your pan perfectly each and every time. It only takes four easy folds.
Here I have a piece of parchment paper and I’m going to fold it in half. So I make a book that the spine is on the left and the pages go to the right. So that’s fold number one. Then take the spine and put it on the bottom. And fold number two is the same as fold number one, making another book with the spine on the left and pages going to the right. Fold number three, take the upper corner of the spine and fold it over so that it is parallel with the bottom edge. You’re making sort of a skinny little triangle like the beginnings of a paper airplane. And number four is the same as number three. Take this angled edge and fold it over so that it’s parallel with the bottom edge making a skinny little triangle.
Now in order to have it perfectly fit the pan that you’re using, take the pan and with the point of the triangle, put it in the center of the pan and where the edge of the pan hits the triangle, you’re going to make a little tear. So double check, there it is. And now, if you have a scissor, that’s great. If not, you can just rip it. And now you have a round of parchment that you will see fits the pan perfectly that you’re going to be using.
So the next time your recipe says line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper, give this tip a try.
