Derrick Schommer: Welcome to Common Man Cocktails. I’m your host, Derrick Schommer and today, we’re going to create the Scorpion Bowl and I have friends.
Oliver: Yeah, I’m from Austria and I saw Derrick on the internet. And I want to meet him and I want to drink. And now, his drinks.
Derrick Schommer: See? That’s the story and he’s sticking to it. Actually, when this is taping, I’ll be in Germany.
Oliver: You’ll be in Germany? When?
Derrick Schommer: It’s taping right now. Next week. When this is on the air, I’m already going to be there.
Oliver: I’m really happy to be here.
Derrick Schomer: I’m happy that you’re happy to be here because you are about to get really drunk.
Oliver: Yeah! I hope that I’ll get drunk because when I saw it on the internet, I didn’t drink anything.
Derrick Schommer: Well, this is your first drink.
Oliver: I was just listening to you.
Derrick Schommer: Right, this is your first drink. You haven’t been drinking at all! So, what we’re going to create is we’re going to create the Scorpion Bowl. It’s going to have—what we have, we got some dark rum. We’ve got some light rum. We’ve got some 151. We’ve got some gin. This is the Givi Gin. Tito`s handmade American Vodka, Gretadin.
Oliver: What is the name of the drink?
Derrick Schommer: Scorpion Bowl.
Oliver: Okay!Cool!
Derrick Schommer: Orange juice, pineapple juice. Yeah, that’s the pineapple juice. I couldn’t figure out which one is which, Ice and a pitcher. There’s no water in the pitcher
Oliver: Okay, I hate water.
Derrick Schommer: That’s okay because there’s not a lot in here. And we’re going to put them in that. You got your tiki.
Oliver: This is a nice glass.
Derrick Schommer: This is a tiki god head.
Oliver: Cool!
Derrick Schommer: Yeah!
Oliver: You see this glass?
Derrick Schommer: It’s the head.
Oliver: Really cool!
Derrick Schommer: It’s really cool. Ten ounces of ice, maybe. And so, there is a lot of alcohol here. And really, what you’re going to do is you’re going to put the ice in the pitcher, right? And then you’re going to pour in some alcohol, pour in some juice, stir it around and we’ll make drinks.
Oliver: Okay!
Derrick Schommer: Can we do that?
Oliver: So, I don’t have to do anything. I only drink.
Derrick Schommer: No, you just drink.
Oliver: Okay, perfect!
Derrick Schommer: So, we’ll start with the ice. Good!
Oliver: It’s looking really good.
Derrick Schommer: Looking good! We’ll do two ounces of the gin. You like gin?
Oliver: Gin is cool!
Derrick Schommer: Okay! Good!
Oliver: If it’s a good gin. But it looks really nice.
Derrick Schommer: It is based on the label alone. This is a good gin.
Oliver: Can I smell it on?
Derrick Schommer: You can smell it on as much as you want. Two ounces is very good stuff. It’s for France. I’m sorry! It’s not for Germany. I did my best.
Oliver: Well, I’m not from Germany.
Derrick Schommer: You’re coming from Austria.
Oliver: Austria. You know mountains.
Derrick Schommer: They have mountains in Austria?
Oliver: Yeah!
Derrick Schommer: I’ve never been to Austria.
Oliver: You like skiing?
Derrick Schommer: Not really! I hurt myself skiing last lesson on an ambulance on my first trip. Is there a problem?
Oliver: No problem for me. There’s a problem for you.
Derrick Schommer: It is definitely a problem for me. So, that’s two ounces of a hundred fifty one proof.
Oliver: Okay!
Derrick Schommer: Two ounces of light rum. Basically, it’s the rule of twos because two ounces is a lot of alcohol. The only one that’s going to be one ounce of is the dark rum. I’ve got an audience, too.
Oliver: That’s really cool! You are a cool guy.
Derrick Schommer: I Know!
Oliver: I was watching your things on the internet and you’re way too cool in real life than on the internet.
Derrick Schommer: Well, I am. Definitely! I am definitely cooler in real life. And while I’m cool, I’m going to make four ounces of whatever this is, pineapple juice. You think I’m cool now?
Oliver: Yeah!
Derrick Schommer: Wait until you drink this.
Oliver: I’m really happy to drink something because if you were on your shows, you don’t drink anything.
Derrick Schommer: Well, you can.
Oliver: Yeah, but I tried to make the same thing but I don’t know if I do it right. I’m really happy to be here in Boston and to see how it really tastes.
Derrick Schommer: You like Gretadin?
Oliver: Yeah!
Derrick Schommer: It’s like high fructose corn syrup in a bowl. Sticky.
Oliver: It’s stick.
Derrick Schommer: It is sticky. Two ounces.
Oliver: Okay!
Derrick Schommer: That’s a little bit of Gretadin right there. We’re going to stir it up, take it out. It smells like gin.
Oliver: Cool!
Derrick Schommer: You shake it like 30 seconds. Are you bored?
Oliver: No! I’ll wait. Do it faster. I like to taste it.
Derrick Schommer: We’re going to put some ice in there too. Here, I’ll get you some ice. No, you cannot drink it yet. And I’m going to fill it with a lot of ice.
Oliver: Yes.
Derrick Schommer: Because you don’t want to drink this too fast so you got to take it easy that way, you could cherish the flavor.
Oliver: So. Will it take some time to drink the drinks?
Derrick Schommer: Well, sometimes. I do.
Oliver: Okay!
Derrick Schommer: Here, we’ll use this, this makeshift not getting any ice in there. That looks pretty cool. We’re going to make enough. We got Sakets. So now, get some straws in there. Have a couple of straws.
Oliver: So, Can I have a blue one to match my blue eyes?
Derrick Schommer: You have blue eyes?
Oliver: Yes!
Derrick Schommer: I wasn’t really looking at your eyes. Can I have a blue one?
Oliver: I’ll wait for you.
Derrick Schommer: You’ll wait? So, we’re going to do this together? How’s that?
Oliver: Cheers!
Derrick Schommer: Cheers!
Oliver: Nice to be here!
Derrick Schommer: Come on, what do you say this in Austria?
Oliver: [Foreign Language]
Derrick Schommer: That’s what I was thinking.
Oliver: It is cool! So, everybody should come to you and taste it.
Derrick Schommer: This is insane!
Oliver: It’s really cool.
Derrick Schommer: This is like Gretadin in fire.
Oliver: I don’t know. I don’t know how to explain this bomb in my mouth.
Derrick Schommer: Gretadin in fire.
Oliver: I’ll try it again?
Derrick Schommer: See if you’ll get the Gretadin and then the fire. That’s a lot of Gretadin!
Oliver: It’s really cool.
Derrick Schommer: So, that is how you make a Scorpion Bowl. Big pitcher, mix all the ingredients. And great for parties which we’re having. So, we’ll make more of these later on after the show and I guess you’re going to say something.
Oliver: I’ll come again.
Derrick Schommer: Am I good with this.
Oliver: No, I will fly home tomorrow.
Derrick Schommer: Well, that’s okay because I’ll be there in a week.
Oliver: Okay, See you.
Derrick Schommer: That was a drunk slap. Anyway, I’m you host, Derrick Schommer! And your name?
Oliver: I’m Oliver and I like being here in Boston with Derrick because these are cool drinks.
Derrick Schoomer: Definitely a cool drink and we’re teaching you how to drink.
