How to Make a Selection in Paint.NET

In paint.net there are three different selection tools and I’m going to show you really quickly how you can use each of this. First of all, I’ll go up to your tools menu or your tool box if you prefer and click on rectangle select, so this is the first one.

If you go over to the object that you want to select, simply hold down your mouse and then drag down and this darker blue is going to be your selection. And you could also hold down the Shift key at the same time. And that’s going to give you a perfect square of selection. So you could go ahead and you can release it and then you have you’re selection.

Another type of selection is your ellipse select, click on that and you can use that the same way. You can use it to make it oval, you can also hold down you’re Shift key and as you make that selection it’s going to be a perfect circle. The last one is your lasso select. And lasso select works a little bit different and you can make it more selections with it. So you click where you’d like to start selecting and then you could imply move up and of course if you zoom in and do this, you better.

And as you do this you could see that you have that blue square as moving along while you're selecting. Go ahead and select all the way. Release you’re mouse and you have you’re selection and of course you can zoom up and get more exact on that that’s the best to get exact selections. So that’s how you can make a selection in paint.net.
