Hi! I’m Sandy from Afloral. And I thought today, we’d make a beautiful summer bouquet. And to do that, I have some larkspur, I have some beautiful sunflowers, and look at these poppies, aren’t those beautiful? This is something that will be colorful and look wonderful in your house. I want you to remember something, when you’re making a design for your house and if it’s something for fall or for summer, you don’t have to coordinate with what’s in your house. If you want something to show up nicely, make something that will stand out. Make it contrast.
So we’ll start with some larkspur, one in the center. This is a beautiful larkspur, and then three around that. I really like to work with the number 3. Even though I’m working in a square basket, I’m going to make a round centerpiece in a square basket, something that only a woman can do. Sorry for all you male floral designers. I would like to fool around here at Afloral. So, we have one in the center and then three around that, and the larkspur had some little buds on it so we’ll use those as well. And in between the three that we’ve started with, we’ll put these little buds. You never want to waste anything, there’s always a place that you can fill in.
So now, you can see the size and shape of our design, and now we need to put in some focal flowers. And for that, I have this beautiful—these are the nicest poppies that I have seen. And if you have ever had poppies in your garden, this looks like the real thing. So we’ll put some poppies in. So near the bottom again. Everything that I’m going to do, I’m going to work with three. So we have three poppies at the bottom and three poppies in the center. Make sure you have nice heavy duty wire cutters because these some of these stems are quite heavy. Good tools always make for easy designing. Look how beautiful that is.
Now on the bottom lilies, I didn’t use the little bud that was attached. So let’s put that in separately. I didn’t want them to be hidden down there in the bottom. And also, we want to make sure that you’re using the foliage because as I always say, you paid for it so why not use it. And isn’t that gorgeous? Big, airy and colorful. And now, I have these really cute sunflowers. We’re going to put the sunflowers in between the poppies. And look at these beautiful colors. If you’re driving along in the country and you look in the fields in the late summer, you’ll see the focal Wild Esther and all the wild flowers in the same colors. Let’s bring a little color into our house and make a centerpiece similar to this. Isn’t that beautiful? Big, airy and just full of life.
Now, to fill in around the bottom, I don’t want to fill this up with a lot of filler flowers. So instead, I’m just going to use a little of this Dusty Miller down in the basket to fill in so that we don’t see any foam or marsh. We always want to hide your workings or how you put something together if your stems aren’t long enough, if you put one of the steel picks on it from the steel pick machine. Okay. There it is. A beautiful summer centerpiece.
