Hey guys. Today, I'm going to be recreating the Twitter logo in a Web 2.0 fashion. So, first of all, watch this on full screen because I'm going to be using full screen on my own. Camtasia recorder. I think you can see it pretty well in YouTube. If you put in full screen, you can see it vertically.
First thing you’re going to want to do is go to my website masterjakeonline.com and let’s go down this high quality Twitter logo remake. This is actually what we’re going to be making right here. All you need to do is down load this file. If you want to use the Tondo font, which is the font I'm using in this logo. It looks almost exactly like to Twitter font, but there are a little differences but it’s still very close. So click this link, download the font and install it and then you’re ready to go, or use what other font you wanted. It’s up to you completely. Go to file new in Photoshop and I'm going to make it 300 by 100 pixels to give us enough room. Go and press okay. First thing, alt double click the background layer so that it becomes layer zero. You want that to be workable, so we can turn it off later for transparency.
Okay, the next thing we’re going to do, go select your texture over here and we actually need to get the Twitter logo color, so open up internet again, go to twitter.com and right click their image copy image, Photoshop control D the paste it. I'm going to click this foreground color and use this little eyedropper tool to grab that color right there, and that’s going to be the twitter color. Now, we can go and delete that image because we don’t need it. Select your texture. Make sure this color is the foreground color. If it is not, select it and then click the foreground color and it will create it, okay.
Go ahead and actually real quick, let’s switch back to the foreground and alt back space to fill this lay with black, so we can see it and let’s flip the background. Go ahead and type Twitter. And now what you might be seeing is that you’re probably seeing this and that’s because I messed with my tracking to make it look like the logo. So if you do see like this, go ahead and select your text, click this little bottom up here to bring out the characters and paragraphs palate. On the character palate, tracking right here, drag it down to about -60. I think that looks pretty good and there you go.
We have our basis of the Twitter logo. Now, we want to setup that big white stroke that goes around it. So go ahead and click the fx tab and click stroke for the twitter layer. Click the color and drag it up to a full blown white. Now, you want to fill up the entire center, so you see seven still leaves little bit right there. So I found that it works for creating the perfect Twitter stroke. Now, keep in mind this is font size 72 points and the Tondo font with regular. So just keep that in mind and make sure you set up the same.
Okay, we have the basis of the logo. Now, let’s add a little drop effect, a little reflection. So hold down off and drag that down a little bit. Now go to the edit. You want to go to transform foot vertical. Sorry, my mouse is screwing around on me. Put vertical, okay. Now on this Twitter copy layer that was just created, which is this copy right here, were’ going to go to fx stroke and turn that off, because if you leave the stroke on, it’s going to make look it with nasty when you put the reflection in. So put that about right there, looks good. Leave it right there.
Now, what you want to do. Click this little photo icon over here to create the layer masks for the twitter copy layer, select your gradient tool. If you don’t have it, hold down on the paint book tool and select gradient. Put white as your foreground, black as your background color and select foreground to background on the gradient style. Starting out for about right here, hold on shift and drag to about right there, and you’ll create that little reflection and you want to change the all positive for that layer about 40%, and you have that reflection down there. It looks pretty good.
The last thing we’re going to do. You want to hold down control and you want to click that Twitter layer down there. Let’s go and click that icon right there, and then you’ll have all the texts selected. And you want to press the new layer icon to work right above that twitter layer, drag it down to just right above twitter layer. I want to just be right above twitter. And what you want to do, select this elliptical mark key tool up here. Hold down the shift and alt and from up here in the corner, just kind of drag a little circle over there and let go of the mouse and you get this selection right here. Go ahead and press D to put your colors back to normal and then put white on the top by pressing this little arrow, select your gradient tool, click that and select foreground to transparent.
Now, starting about right here we’re going to hold down shift and drag to about right, there then press control D and you see you have that glamour up there. Change the opacity, we’ll drop it down just a little bit to about 80, I still want it to be pretty overpowering, so that it shines. Now that you have that done, just go down to the very bottom layer and click that little I and you have it turn off. Now you can go to file, save and if you want to save a PSD, go ahead and do that. We’re going to save it as a PNG. I’ll just call it Twitter and save. Make sure interlace is none by way and you’re done. There’s your twitter logo. You can put that wherever you want, like I have it on my website and go check that out if you want.
And here’s a Halloween twitter logo that I made. See it as orange with the black stroke instead of white, has kind of little bit gradient in there. Still that glamour has some cloudy fog going over it and a pumpkin popping out in the background. And I did custom make that pumpkin from the editorial I found in Google. So it’s pretty cool. It’s all costume made. Thanks for watching the video guys.
