How to Make a Weaved Wall Hanging Part 3
First, prepare the cardboard loom by drawing a “stop” line at each end parallel to the cardboard. Pencil in notch marks on both ends of the loom. Use scissors to cut along your notch marks.
Next, begin warping the loom by tying several knots in the string. Slide the string into the first notch of your loom tightly wrap the string all the way around the cardboard making sure to slide the string into the notches you cut earlier.
After you’ve finished warping, tie a knot very close to the cardboard so that the loom does not come undone. Next, pick a color scheme. Thread your yarn through the needle. Begin weaving by going over one string under the next, and over the next all the way across.
Once you’ve finished one row start again going in the other direction. To make rya knots take a short piece of yarn and lay it over two warps. Bring one end up and under through the center, bring the other end around and under through the center. Overlap the rya knots as you continue down your row.
After you have finished your row of rya knots continue weaving normally until you have finished the loom. To remove the weaving from the loom, use scissors to cut the warps loose. Tie two of the warps together close to the weave. Continue this process until all of the warps have been tied.
If you would like to hang your weaving simply attach a dowel rod to the warp strings. Tie the warp strings to the dowel rod making sure that one warp string goes behind the dowel rod and one goes in front of the dowel rod.
