Hi everyone! Welcome to Le Gourmet TV. Today, we're going to be baking an apple cake. So let's dive right in. I've already peeled, cut, and cored my apples and then, I've chopped them up into rough pieces, don't have to be exact with this.
So, the first thing we're going to do with the apples is add some sugar and some cinnamon. We'll just stir this together, you want to coat the apples fully with the sugar and cinnamon. That's great. So we'll just set that aside. Next up I've got flour in this bowl. If you're on Le Gourmet TV, click just below the video, follow the link, and the recipe will open up beside. If you're watching this video on one of our syndication partners, come on back to LeGourmet.tv, and get the recipe there. So in this bowl, I've got flour, and to that, I'm going to add baking powder and salt. So, you just want to thoroughly mix in the baking powder and salt. Make sure that it's everywhere within the flour. Then again, we're just going to set this aside. There seems like there is a lot of steps, but really it's a fairly simple recipe.
In this bowl, I've got sugar. To that, I'm going to add orange juice and vegetable oil, also going to put in vanilla at this point into the sugar mixture. So in go a couple of teaspoons of vanilla, and then with a wire whisk, you just want to mix this up. It's fairly difficult with the whisk, but once you get it moving through the sugar, you'd be able to mix it up fairly easily. Great! So now it's a matter of mixing our wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. So I've got the sugar, oil, and orange juice mixture, and we're just going to mix that into the flour.
Now this is, at this point, a very stiff, almost dough like, not really a batter at this point. So I've got in this bowl, four eggs, and you just want to add them one at a time. Then fully mix it in. So, the batter now is fully mixed and I've got a prepared tube pan that I've just covered the inside with butter. What you want to do is get half the batter into the bottom of the tube pan. Next, you want to take about half the apple mixture that you've already prepared and put that on top of the batter that you've already got in the tube pan.
Now pour the last of the batter over top of that. Then take the rest of your apples and coat the top. Now the oven is preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm going to place this pan in the oven and cook it for about an hour-and-a-half or until the cake tester comes out clean.
So there you have it, a wonderful apple cake. Now, you just let this cool a little bit, turn it out onto a plate, and see how long it lasts in your family. Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon.
