How to: Make an Eva Longoria Bob

Hi! I am Johnny Lavoy and I am a hair stylist with Ford Artist. Today, what I am going to do is to give you another variation of faking a bob. If you saw my last clip, we did it on long layered hair. This time we are going to do it on hair that has that has a little more curl.

I am going to start this look as I am going to section the hair down the middle of the back and then I am going to take another section at the occipital bone to the top of the back of the ear just like that and I am going to pin that section up. And then I am going to just continue that on the other side.

So, section that hair off and then what I am going to do is I am going to tease this section. And then what I am going to do is just wrap it in a big curl and I am going to leave the ends out. I am going to take a big bobby pin and shove it in there. I am going to do the same on this side, take a bobby pin, shove it right through and again, let these ends stick out. Now, what I am going to do is take down the section in the back about two inches. I am going to backcomb it with a brush, turn it and let the ends fall out but we are going to let it to fall towards the center and you are going to pin and it is okay if your curl is a little messy. We are not going for perfection here because all of this is going to be covered. We are trying to create the look of a bob. So, you do not want to really see the roll to much that is why we are leaving the ends out because if you leave them, the rolls kind of knit. That is what it is going to look like. You just rolled your hair under. So, again I am taking the next section and this is going right to the top of the head, to the crown. Section, that of, I am teasing it. I am rolling it. I am going to pin it.

So now, what I am going to do is sort of let all the hair down and I am going in and I am like going to back comb that hair. This look is very popular with Eva Longoria. She fakes this look all the time. Okay, so once we did that we are going to spray it a little bit. So after we have done the rolls, what I am going to do is take some hairpins and these are the difference between a hairpin and a bobby pin is a bobby pin is closed, has a little more grip and it is tighter where a hairpin is loose. It looks like this. This is great for hiding hair and holding hair invisibly when you just want a really slight hole and you can get hairpins and bobby pins at any pharmacy such as CVS, Duane Reade or a beauty supplies store.

So, after I have done the wrap, the curls underneath, what I want to do is sort of just lift these waves up and just sort of put a hairpin in for some texture. And you can see what a hairpin does. It just sort of gives me a hold without actually leaving the mark of a bobby pin. In any hairs that might fall out, if you want to shorten them up just sort of twist it around your finger and stick a clip in it. Once it is done, run your fingers through it. Put the hair in place and spray it and this is another way to fake a haircut and to create a look similar to Eva Longoria’s.s
