Have your system serviced twice a year to catch inefficiencies before they cause major problems. The average life of an air-conditioner is 10-12 years. Failing to service it regularly will reduce that lifespan. Change the filters and clean the coils. Doing so every few months will extend the life of your system by as much as 2-5 years. Also check for leaky air dust. Install a programmable thermostat. Program it to fit your lifestyle and comfort level. This could save as much as 18 percent on your utility bills.
