Really nice things about these paint markers are, if you make a mistake that you don’t like a certain area, maybe you don’t like the color you used or maybe you don’t like your design, let them dry and then just go right over with the next color.
Okay, I think I'm going to go ahead and start with the black and you just have to keep in mind that you can always go back and add more colors on top of the black. If you haven’t used paint markers before, they’re really a lot of fun. The only trick is getting them started.
When you take them out of the package, you have to shake them up first just to get the paint mixed up inside of them. And then you have to just gently press the tip up and down on a scrap piece of paper so that you actually get the ink to come down into the felt tip and that is called priming the paint pen. And whatever you do, don’t shake them right over your picture because I’ve seem many pictures splattered with paint from a paint marker, so if they run out, you just kind of prime them a little bit just to get more ink flowing into the felt tip.
I think I'm just going to go over these dots because it’ll be easier to put the dots on top of the black. We’re almost finished with the black here and once it’s dry, you can actually go back and start doing some touch up because it will definitely need some. Some of the touch ups I’ve already done. I did them while I was working on the black. This way, you can get rid some of the white that’s still showing.
And you’re going to want to start with your metallic and I think I’ll just start. I'm just going to add some silver, a little bright fat lines all along the edge just to contrast of the black and all the other colors. The silver and gold is really a nice effect. Now, see the other colors really do go over the black so you can add lots of designs after you’ve out the black background down.
You could possibly be wondering now why couldn’t I just go ahead and paint this whole thing black and then do my designs over it, well you’ll have some problems with the seeing pencil lines on top of the black and it works out better this way just to do your coloring around the objects and then go back and touch up.
The fun part about this project is that you just kind of keep building on the preliminary designs that you started with by just adding colors, adding outlines and dots, swirls, outlines whatever it is that you want to add to it. Put some silver lines on some of these blues here. I think I want some more yellow. So, I'm going to put a little yellow edge all the way around the silver and the edge of each of these silver little shapes. Okay, you know its hard not to keep going back and just adding more things. You think you’re finished and then you find something else that you could add to it, you just have to know kind of when to stop. Anyway, I could go ahead and finish those little green dots there and basically next time you do this you’re going to come up with a different kind of design.
So, there you have it. Happy frame making, happy visiting India for a short period of time while you’re working on these projects.
