Here I’ll show you how to make a paper cup that can hold pencils, pens and other office supplies. I’m going to turn this 9X9 square into a water bomb base. First we’ll fold in half to make a triangle. Give it a nice crease and then unfold. Now fold in half to make a triangle from the other direction. Just like before, give it a good crease and then unfold. Now, we’re going to intersect this X that we’ve made by folding in half to make a rectangle. Make sure that the color side is on the inside. Crease this and then unfold. We’re going to pop up the center and then push in these sides along the creases and fold it into a triangle. That’s a water bomb base.
This next step is a minor thing and you can really skip it but I’m doing it to make some guidelines. I’m going to take these flaps and basically turn them like pages of a book. Then I’ll fold them flat. I still have a water bomb base but you’ll notice there’s a line straight in the center. I’m going to use this center line to make sure my next fold is properly aligned. Take this point of the triangle and fold it up. The further you fold it up, the wider the base of your cup. Feel free to experiment with different sizes. You’ll want to give that a good crease. I like -- fold it back on itself and re-crease it. Having a good crease here will make later stages easier.
Now we can unfold this corner of the triangle. Take one of the flaps and fold it across until it meets this point. Make sure that the edge is still lined up even there. Take the opposite flap and fold it across to the same point at the bottom crease. Now, we’re going to take this flap and fold it back on itself so that these two edges line up. Now we’re going to take this flap and tuck it inside one of these pockets here. It really doesn’t matter which one you choose. I’m going to tuck it in to the only pocket that’s colored on the inside. What’s more important is making sure you do a good job of tucking this flap inside the pocket you’ve chosen. Once you’ve got that tucked away nicely, flip this over and repeat the steps. It’s not a huge deal but I like to make sure that the first flap that it fold over on the other side matches this edge from the first side.
Once you’ve got both sides done, we’re going to reach in and pop open our pencil cup. If you did a good job of creasing that corner of the triangle this shouldn’t be too hard. And there you go, one pencil cup.
