How to Make an XXX Martini
It’s got what some call an avant guard ingredient, that ingredient is squid ink. First ingredient is our principal spirit of full two ounces of vodka, and in the course your olive juice. So in this case I’m using Dirty Sue and I’m just doing a little under a half ounce here. Brace yourselves, put your seatbelts on—we have our squid ink nectar—three quarters of an ounce. I’m getting my ice here and shake.
Before I pour we have to dress the rim of the Martini glass. So I have a lemon here and what I’m going to do is just rim half of it and you have your texture here of your savory citrus salt, which is citrus zest, lemon, pepper, sugar and salt all coming together. So I dip that and I really kind of move it around here and we pour it in, a few Spanish olives here.
The triple x martini tastes frankly like a little bit of a dirty sea water. It tastes like earth, like literally like soil and it tastes vegetal from the olives and then I get a little bright pepper citrus which both sweet and savory components from the savory citrus zest. Slightly sweet, and savory beverages washes it all the way and it taste great. It’s a little chunky too.
