Welcome to celebrate your life and celebrate your home. I am your host Melissa Galt. I am a life-style guide and your interior design guru. I am also the author of Celebrate Your Life! The Art of Celebrating Every Day.
Today we are celebrating the home, in particular mine, and I am going to show you some neat design, tips and tricks that you can take home with you to make your life a little more beautiful.
Let's take the family table. Now I know most of you are thinking about the dining room. But I am talking about a place where you collage family photos, for memories, and fun moments.
The key to doing this is to keep all of the frames in one value. For example, on this table I've got them all gold. Each frame is different but they are all in gold. So you don't really notice the frames, you notice the images. The images are the part that touch our hearts, and that's what we are trying to do here.
So if you are using black-and-whites you want to stay all silver. And if you are using candid colored you might want to go away from gold and do more of a wood-tone or you could do a black frame.
The other key is to make sure that the frames are different than the surface they are sitting on. This particular surface happens to be a cherry-wood table, the gold is a nice compliment to that. Mix it up with vertical shots, horizontal shots, and whether you are covering memories that include bungee jumping, or perhaps it's a family outing of belly dancing. It's not what you are featuring but you are including family at your family table.
Remember, keep the values of the frames alike, mix up the memories and you'll give everybody a chance to smile.
That's it for this segment of celebrate your life, celebrate your home, and the family table.
