Celebrate your life and celebrate your home. I am Melissa Galt, Interior Designer and your lifestyle guide. I am also the author of 'Celebrate Your Life! The Art of Celebrating Every Day.' And today, I am going to talk with you about collections. As a designer, I have a collection of chairs, including this lovely red one beside me and the one I am sitting in and the chairs on the wall beside me.
The trick to collections is to keep the pieces together. When you scatter collection, one here, one there, one here, they lose their impact and their drama, they lose their significance. So it's very important that you keep collections together.
Now, I have a very large collection of chairs, so large, in fact, it's taking over my house right now. But I have managed to still keep things together and at least in groups of 9, 11, 13, lucky 13, 15, and so on. I have some very little chairs and I also have some much larger chairs, but even though larger ones are still in groupings of three to five. That makes a very big difference.
Don't scatter your collections, keep them together for impact and drama, and if you've got a really big collection like this, you want to split it up into slightly smaller collections, but if you can still keep them dedicate it to one floor or one room in your home. It makes a really big difference.
Collections can be a lot of fun and certainly makes it easy for friends to buy you gifts. Celebrate your life, celebrate your home. Live well and beautifully!
