How to Makeover a Family Room

Lisa Quinn: Dianne and Victor’s family room is finally complete but before we show you the finish product let’s take one last look at the way it way it was at the beginning of our show. If you remember it was just a blank slight Dianne and her husband Victor just move into the home, they brought in a new carpet but the rest of the place was pretty empty. They want it to make it a family room, a guest room and the play room which are the pretty big order but I think we are able to pull it off. Take a look at it now, we made new changes in here and I’d love to talk about all the different areas in this space that Dianne and her husband can now enjoy. First of all let’s cover the family room slash guest room part of the area. The whole key to these the whole key to making this work is bringing this sofa that you see right in front of me, this is a red quarter right hector sofa. It’s beautiful, its comfortable but the key is it’s also a sofa bed so they can roll it out when guest come over and speaking of rolling out I decided to use this lax shelves here as a coffee table, we simply put casters on the bottom of it make it a coffee table when the bed rolls out the table rolls away. We also decided to put some curtains over this ugly door here just make it a little bit more attractive and if you remember from our shopping segment earlier in the show we decided to go with a linen and cabinet instead of the proper entertainment center might seem like a weird choice of the time but you can see how well it works now, so perfectly ending for there is flat screen TV and since this is going to be use a guest room this will be a perfect place of Dianne to put almost extra linens like extra sheets for the bed, the towels and everything that guest need. Now, if you remember Joe from Varsity Painting came in to paint this walls to paint we have big and there is not a whole lot and different on the paint that was in here but I told them to go ahead and painted anyway. The color we choose was a little bit darker and it does at a bit more richness to the room. Not only to Joe Paint this wall but they also painted what I thought was an eye soar, this fireplace. It kind to jot it out until the middle of the room and the brick wasn’t so pretty so we just decided to prime it and also put on this creamy white paint here and makes it look a lot more architectural and a lot less notice will it kind to mix it go away a little bit which is what we are going for in the room. Since we decided to paint a lot of things this creamy white we also decided to bring in furniture that had that same tone and fall everything all together. I thought they might be a plan idea to bring it in a little dining table and some chairs since this is a family room it will be a great place for the kids to have a snack. Now, we decided not to forget the kids because we did one to make this playroom too so we got the adult area over here. Over there the play area, we brought them some pencils because kids love to draw and if you bring them a pencil they won’t draw on the wall and this I great because they have one side that’s a chalkboard and then on the other side that’s a dry or raise board and then there is also papers so the kids can draw on anything they want. Decided also it might be a good idea to bring in some storage so I brought in this storage system and this one is so much superior that those regular toy boxes the big trunk kind because all the little toys fall at the bottom. This ones so great because it is all these little drawers were all the little things well have to place and if you have a kids it is so important to make sure that you stay organize so that the stuffs just goes everywhere. Right in a little table and chairs as cute as this, this is going to be a wonderful place for the toddlers to play and we brought in a little boat and board here so they could just play all the artwork that they’re making when they’re over there. Kids love to crawl in the things, we brought in this lady bug tent and a few pillows just to make them comfortable and then for all those little things that need of place we also decided to bring in this cute little dock container, so adorable for kids and I put it a little bit higher because you never know sometimes Dianne is going to make things that the kids don’t necessarily need to get too. This was a huge job but I think the dream home makeover crew and Bob did a amazing job but I’m dying to find out where Dianne thinks and we are going to bring her right now. Alright Dianne takes a look. Dianne: Oh my god. Lisa Quinn: You know this rooms a lot bigger than you probably realize and even that I though I’d realize we are able to cram a lot of stuff in here. We got kids area and do think they’re going to like this? Dianne: Oh they’re going to love this. Lisa Quinn: This one something you know keeping kids busy and keep man if you are here. We got a whole station here a little drawer, a little storage; a little crawling around over there and then this is your family size guest rooms take a look. Dianne: Wow this is perfect. Lisa Quinn: So the surprise that you may not know and I think we talk about a little bit earlier but this is a sofa bed. Dianne: Oh my goodness. Lisa Quinn: Simple it out. Dianne: You are amazing. Lisa Quinn: And we pulled your TV out of the box and I can’t’ said that we hook it up or anything that’s going to be— Dianne: That’s fine. Lisa Quinn: That we did bring it in on a lean cabinet because I thought it might be fun for guest you can pull all the extra thousand of stuff that guest need. And then we really just of fill out all the spaces I mean like I said I think the rooms are lot bigger than we thought and we are able to put all this in here without making a too crank. Dianne: Oh that’s great. Lisa Quinn: You think you are going to be able to have some family fun on here? Dianne: Well have going to have a party tonight. Lisa Quinn: I love it, I love it. And we have a lot of friend to work with and I know Victor is hobbled today and have some surgery so I like o come down and enjoy it later and got the home man cage then going to a little bit right.
