Dr. Suzann Wang: Hi, I am Dr. Suzann Wang from greenhealthspot.com. I want to talk to you today about adrenal fatigue and the adrenal gland, the function of the adrenal gland and its relationship in helping you deal with stress. There has been, generally a lot of people are feeling very stress lately especially with the economic and financial climate. People are feeling scraped financially and monetarily. So it's I am seeing a lot of people with insomnia and blood sugar issues something like that, because of the emotional stress they have been going under. So I thought this would be an appropriate time to talk about how your adrenal glands are affected and having low adrenal function and how that will affect your sleep.
A few common symptoms that people will experience, when they have adrenal fatigue is waking up in the middle of the night and can't fall back to sleep. Usually you got problems staying asleep , sorry its not a problem too fall asleep, but it is a problem for them to stay asleep and then they may wake up and nothing fall back to sleep. Another common symptom is falling, waking up early in the morning and cant fall back to sleep at all like 6'o clock in the morning or 5'o clock in the morning, earlier than they usually wake. Another symptom is having experiencing symptoms of low blood sugar, which if you haven't eaten for a couple of hours, people can experience this feeling of light headedness of being really hungry , feeling the sensation of needing to eat right now. Feeling irritable or sweaty or really uncomfortable if they haven't eaten, that's an another common symptom of adrenal fatigue. Another thing is getting light headed when we stand up quickly or feeling very, very tired and especially in the late afternoons and they are getting lots of energy in the evening and not being able to follow -- that having more energy in the evening and can fall asleep and then wake up again in the middle of the night.
So all of these are common symptoms of adrenal and one of the important things when you are under lot of stress is make sure that you are getting good quality sleep. So they way to do this is to keep your blood sugar levels throughout the night and in order to do this , you should probably eat a protein fat before you go to sleep and probably about half an hour or so before bed is a really good thing. And one of the things that will keep your blood sugar even throughout the night and also making sure that you have, not have a lot of sugar and have a lot of desserts in the evening, before you go to bed is really good because having elevated your blood sugar level will cause influent to coming and cause your blood sugar to be moved into your cells, which then leaves to sometimes low blood sugar if you have lot -- result running around at night.
The other thing is making sure that you have high protein meals and snacks throughout the day and this high protein meaning peas or chicken or fish, not some seeds or eggs or cheese are also really good ideas throughout the day. You really don't have to eat a lot. You just should probably eat frequently. Eating frequently like a handful of nuts or small egg or a piece or cheese or some an apple with some nut butter on them. Those are all good snacks to keep your blood even throughout the day and this is highly, highly important to keep your body ability to deal with scarps.

Also increased protein in your diet really helps your body to detoxify better. People who have a lot of stress hormone coming through their body produced by their adrenal glands are usually acceptable to having trouble with detoxifying as well. So having elevated protein will allow your body to detoxify more efficiently and effectively.
There are lot of nutrients and supplements that you can take to help your adrenals get through this period. You when you're just going through a little bit of adrenal stress; exercise is great if you have a lot of adrenal stress. And if you feel like your body cannot tolerate exercise, you want to listen to your body and help with that. Lot of people feel like they're very, they are unable to exercise and in those cases, you should probably wait until off also a good sign of adrenal fatigue also is when people start gaining weight around the middle, but always its common sign of high protocol out put and you really want to manage your protocol output by getting having even blood sugar throughout the day and getting some supplements and nutrients to help your body to manage the stress. Also trying as much as you can to do some stress relieving exercise like yoga or tai chi or meditating is something that you can do.
