Hey Chris, it’s Steve. Talking about mapping that network drive for you, so to show you real quick, using a secondary drive, that IDE drive just to completely separate drive that you plugged into the computer. It is blank drive, it is formatted, you would pop that in so I have an extra drive here, it is my F drive that I use for storage; internal storage, I also have the external I’ll be showing you.
So, what you have to do is—this is the simplest way and I am going to do this real fast, so try to keep up.
My Computer, you go to the drive that is recognized, which in my case happens to be F, I will make a new folder. I will name it CHRIS, just like that and we’ll open it up while I do something. I do not know—something.
Okay, as simple as that. I am going to go back CHRIS, just right here and we’ll just click Sharing and Security. Once that opens up, you will see this box right here. You will click on, ‘Share this folder on a network’ right here. Share name is Chris. It will allow other users to change my files, Apply and OK. Open it up and see where it is at. Okay, now at that point, we’ll go to well we’ll type in My Network Places on the top and go to Entire network, Microsoft Windows Network, see that MS home? That is the standard.
And there is your CHRIS folder right there. And you see on the top that is the information I was in CHRIS, so on the top here, that is the location of that folder okay. So you can either copy that or when you go to My Computer, you go to Tools, Map Network Drive, pick a drive letter you want, go at Y:, click Browse, do the same thing, you Browse through until you find what you are looking for. CHRIS right here just like I showed you. Reconnect that logon, you hit Finish and it shows you the Y drive; that is the folder. That is the file that we just did earlier.
You’ll see that there is a Y drive now down here at the bottom. Let me see if I can zoom in on that .I do not know if that zooms or not but that is the folder, so I reopen it up and showing off, there is your file just like we had earlier.
And it’s pretty much that simple. You will be access that from anywhere in your network. It’s not the most secured thing in the world but it’s quick, it is simple, it gets the job done.
Remember, information leak baby, for the win.
Other thing is when you do open it up, you may want to just disconnect rather than delete and that will do it. So for like this for example, disconnect, oh you cannot see it—disconnect, goodbye, disconnect, you know just that’s it, it is gone, as simple as that.
So, I hope that helps you out. It makes sense a little bit and I’ll talk to your later man, bye.
