Today’s topic is, don’t stop marketing your business during the recession. This is part four of a seven part video series in titled How Your Business Can Survive in Prosper in the Recession?
In the previous video, we talked about cutting the cost of running your business. Many CEOs, Presidents and Business Owners are looking through there budgets to find places, to slash cost, to improve there bottom line during this economic down turn. Are you doing the same? One of the first budget cuts targeted is usually the advertising and marketing budget. This could be a fatal mistake.
Business people who have survived previous recessions know they’re effective marketing campaigns are critical during economic downturns because costumer buying habits change. You need to use this recession as an opportunity to sharpen your marketing message. Have you change your marketing strategy because of the recession? If you don’t have a great marketing campaign, how do you going to keep your company’s name in front of potential costumers so that they buy from you and not the competition?
You need to analyze your marketing efforts. Track where your sells are coming from, so you can get the most value from your marketing dollars. When developing your marketing plan, you may one of first consider updating your website. Think about adding online internet strategies such as social marketing like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social networks.
Another marketing option is paid for clip advertising on Google and Yahoo. There are also videos, Podcast, webcast, article marketing, search engine optimization and adding a blog to your website. Offline traditional marketing such as direct mail and print advertising can be just as effective today as they’ve been in the past. And today’s market place, most businesses need a mixture of both online and offline marketing strategies. Test different type of marketing to find out what combination of marketing is best for your company, be creative an innovative. In recessionary times, you must increase your marketing efforts to keep all costumers and attract new ones.
Think outside of the box to make sure your marketing efforts bring a positive return on investment. Your marketing and business decisions need to be based on reason and good business practices not fear in speculation.
