Turning
When it's time for the spine to turn over to a prone or face down position, maintain proper draping to prevent exposure while turning the client.
Hold the towel to cover the personal parts of the body and instruct the client to turn towards you.
The back of the legs
Before beginning massage on the back of the leg, first apply oil and move legs apart.
Stroke the leg upward with both hands.
Work the bottom of the foot, various parts of the hands and feet are linked to specific glands, organs and muscles.
Activating these links to reflect massage can relieve tension, improve the blood supply to certain areas of the body and help to stabilize body functions.
Move from the foot to the calf, then to just above the knee.
Using the thumbs, stroke down the sole of the foot.
Move from the foot to the calf, then to just above the knee.
Knead the calf muscles with both hands.
Briefly return the foot moving your way up the leg using petrissage on the calf just above the knee.
Massage can help to keep muscles flexible and can relieve soreness, tensions, stiffness.
Knead this entire side and make several passes.
Finish the massage of the leg by massaging and pulling the foot and by making a couple of more passes of the entire leg.
Move to the other side and repeat.
Stroke the leg upward with both hands.
Using the thumb stroke down the sole of the foot.
Move from the foot to the calf.
Knead the calf muscles with both hands.
Apply alternate hand stroking movement.
Work the bottom of the foot.
