In last part of the calf massage videos, I want to show you a variety of techniques that I use not just on the calf but also on the rest of the leg. You can even use those techniques also on any other body part if you like. The first technique here is circle of friction done in a bilateral way using the fingers. It works on the outside head of the calf muscle just make sure you use even pressure on both sides.
Next technique is a stroking movement with one arm, just makes sure you keep your arm straight and mainly use your weight for this stroke. You can get a good separation of the connective tissues sometimes and you can hold the heel to get a better stretch. You can do that same movement using the second and the third finger.
In this technique, you are actually not using the knuckles, again keep your risk straight keep your elbows straight. This is a technique that is mainly use, in a technique like raffling and it can lead to a good separation of the connective tissue. Do these techniques slowly, so you can actually feel what is happening to the connective tissue.
Another deep tissue technique is the stroking technique with the fist. Again, you are actually not using the knuckles, if you do use them really with moderation. Again, do this technique with a slow paste so that you can feel the connective tissue movements underneath your hand.
Last technique is circle of friction using the thumbs, with the calf massage the main things is just be aware of the back of the knee. Always finish your stroke before you reach the back of knee cause it is a very sensitive area.
