One of the new features in FL studio five is the inclusion of audio and media loop recording. This allows you to continue of your recorder over loop section until you get the type that you want. And with media data, there is the option to merge in your recording with whatever data was already there. Allowing you to build up the section of music with each new pass.
First of all, we will look at using the audio loop recording function in the play list. I will begin starting this over drum loop that I’ve already prepared. I set this to loop over four barres section in the play list. To activate the loop recording future, you need enable the loop record and overdub LAD in the recording options toolbar. You do this regardless of whether you are recording Medi or audio. Because we are recording audio, I will need to go on to the audio mixer and select the channel to record into. Also import to the import of my soundcard and then click twice on the disc recording button to set the record file path and then name the new waive file. Now I’m going to record the baseline, so called the file base.
The disc recording icon will now be orange to indicate that the track is armed. Before we commence recording, I’ll just check to see that auto create audio clip is switched on in the disc recording options in the mixer options menu. This will create a new audio clip channel in the step C consul window for each new loop that we record.
The next step is to switch on the recording mode and then press play. At the end of the loop length, the sound position pointer will skip back to start and begin recording a new file. FL studio will take looping over the length until you stop recording. And you will say that all the bass loop is stacked on top of each other down in the audio track section of the play list. As yet none of the loops is applying so we’ll need to open up the step sequencer and unmute the channel to hear it with the drum loop. You can then go to channel each one of the loops until you find the one that you like best.
Now this is for the music probably do another harmonic element. So now I’m going to demonstrate media loop recording. So I’ll switch the pattern mode and go where I have–set up. Make sure the channel is selected and once again click on the loop record. Activate the record button and hit play.

Now as I record h pass, FL studio will remove the notes that I played on the previous paths and insert the new notes. And now let’s switch back to sound mode and hear how that all sound with the baseline.
[Demonstration]
Now that doesn’t actually sound too bad, but the part mark work better with a bit more fending up. So I’ll go back to pattern mode and this time I will enable the blend recorder mode with existing data LAD in the recording options tool bar. Again, activate the record button and hit play.
[Demonstration]
And now with each successive parts, FL studio will merge the newly played parts on top of what was already played. This allows me to build my composition progressive link over time.
[Demonstration]
So let’s just go back and hear how all that sounds together.
