How to Mimic The Guitar Tapping Technique

Hey Guitar World readers, this is Tony Smotherman and I bet you can't play this. Alright, what that is basically is kind of mimicking the tapping technique without tapping at all. I'm using my thumb and my first finger to roll these notes in the open D string and then back down. So I'm using the B and the E string to do this lick. And it has the effect of. I'm basically grabbing this note, E, down here. So you get this effect. And the idea is just to move it down into this different position. To get the effect of the two handed tapping without having to do it. And that’s really cool to be able to get that sound at your next gig and make everybody think that you're pulling off a Van Halen licks and you're really not doing the same technique. So here it goes again.
