Alright, a lot of people have been e-mailing me and asking me about you know, what is the best way of learning how to beat mix? Now, there’s loads and loads of ways. Okay, this is one of them. Now, first of all, I want you to have a look on your mixer, now have you got these dials here? Now, they could be either nobly bits like that or slightly bits like that. Now then , what you have next to them, in front of them, by the side of them or something like that is BAL or balance, now what they actually do, first of all before we go into detail, is, if you imagine a stereo, you got your headphones on and you’ve got sound coming from your right headphone, sound coming from your left headphone, but also, in your PA’s , or on your PA’s you should have two speakers, one on the right, one on the left, nice class of stereo, okay? Then what the balance actually does, is when the balance is in the middle, you will have a stereo sound. But, if all of a sudden then you move the balance to the right side, what will happen is all the music coming from this actual CD, all the music will only play on the right hand side, and then if I moved that to the left, all of the music from this guy here will only come from the left side. Now and then the opposite from the other CD. Now this is what I want you to do, what I want you to do, okay? Your right CDJ, I want you to put the balance to the right side, the left CDJ, I want you to put the balance to the left side. Now here, you don’t need any headphones okay? Because basically now, what’s happening, is your speakers are sort of acting like headphones, now then what I’m going to do, I’m going to wang the camera a bit like so, so you can see me, it’s like that and we’ll leave it like that, now, I’m going over here. Now, normally, when I’m doing a mix, I’m going to get the one monitor over there. But today, I could set, I’ve got work, although I didn’t say I’ll say now. I got 2 monitors right and left, okay? So don’t forget, this CDJ, now is now the balances on the right hand side, so all the music from this one will come through that speaker over there, then the opposite, this CDJ here, on ,the left hand side, the balance is on the left hand side, all the music will come out of the left hand side. Now then, maybe you have not got pan control on your mixer, all is not lost. Can you see here, alright, you have two inputs on either side, okay? You’ll have a right and a left, now then, think about it, if you go right hand side, what you need to do is you need to remove the left hand side probe, so take that out. And then for the left hand side, you need to remove the right hand side probe, so what you’re getting is you will then get exactly the same, your left hand turntable, or your left hand CDJ will only have a left hand sound and your right CDJ will only have the right sound, quite we’ve got the right sound anyway, but the right hand, right hand side sound, I see I’ve confused myself, but oogers or monkeys? Now, alright, why am I doing this? What’s the point?
