Alright folks, I am going to do in a bit is a mix for your head using two records. What I want you to do I want you to watch what my fingers are doing. I want you to listen and I want you to take note of when the beats sink.
First time I do it, I will put my hand over the record when the beats sink, but after that point they will go off again. Then what I will do, I will do it again. The second time, I will actually start to increase the speed therefore keeping up in beat. Just watch a second, we will put this on, we will put it above there (music playing) and then we got this guy over here (music playing). Now, as soon as I start to play this, this one is going to be too fast. These two records are roughly the same speed anyway (music playing). Now, they are going off again (music playing). What we will do would just—we missed one back (music rewinding). Why did I do that? Now, if you think about it, the principle with the car, you have got one car say for example going up 30 then it went up 35, the one at 35 is going too fast, the one at 30 is going to catch it up. So the one at 30 if they both go off at the same time, in the lesson quite a while ago and that is one that is going up 30 has got to go to 40 or 45. Now, why is actually I am driving at that speed? Let us get into a point when it is going to meet to that car, it is going to actually meet it. At that precise point, it cannot, it is physically impossible for that car to all of a sudden go from 45 to 30 like that, it is actually got to slow down. Now what happened there as you could see, the record caught up, it actually caught up the beat and for split second, they were together but because I left it, it just went off, it went off and it did not keep in beat.
So, what I am going to do now, the reason, we are going to stop bringing the pitch control back up again, that is the point at which the car is slowing down, it is slowing down and it is catching up to stay at a level beat. Right, so we will do it again. (Music playing) so that is there, that is in safe place. Then what we will do is we will bring this one back up. We would do it again (music playing). So, it is in beat (music playing). We have to put it now (music playing) and we virtually got it (music playing). Now, that is the most intricate and most finest point of actual beat mixing. This is why so many DJs full flatten their assis because the two points there if you noticed, twice I got that record in beat. This is where a lot of DJs, beginners or whatever, what they do they think, they have actually got the record in beat, they have it for a split second. But then again, it will go off again. If you think about it like two clocks, they go tick tock, tick tock. Eventually, they will tick together and tock together, but because they are not identity of the same beat, eventually they will go off. So what did I do, the first time, I lowered the speed until it match the beat and left it and it carried on going off. In other words, the two cars, the one—if you think about it 30, the one at 35, the one at 30 has got to catch up and it catches up. At that point, if it is going at 35 but then it just continues going, the only way it to reach the same speed is to slow down again. And that is what I did, it reached the same speed on the turntable the second time and then I start it. On this incident, I started to speed it up and then it caught up.
So, I hope I am pointing it in the right direction, it caught up. If this is unlogical to you, then please let me know because I could have made a few slows on ups and downs in quite incorrectly, but it is easy for me to work it out but sometimes it is actually quite difficult to explain it.
