Dean Marsico: Hey! I’m Dean.
Derek Stearns: I’m Derek and with DIY networks Indoors Out.
Dean Marsico: And we are going to show you the proper way in this thin set.
Derek Stearns: Now thin set is used for tile work interior or even exterior.
Dean Marsico: Now there are many types of thin set so check with your local supplier on right one for you.
Derek Stearns: That’s correct. And you know what you need some proper tools here. You need two five galloon buckets, a mask, a paddle mixer and a paddle.
Dean Marsico: Paddle mixer is about to half inch grill and you want to forward and reverse.
Derek Stearns: Right, is the reverse actually helps you keep the pedal clean.
Dean Marsico: Exactly, so the first step is, to take your five-galloon bucket and fill it with the quarter of way with water and put your mixer right inside.
Derek Stearns: That’s the good point. Did you know that the biggest mistake that you do here is you can take all the thin set and pour it into this five-galloon bucket when you have a mess. We recommend you pour it slowly and start mixing to the consistency of peanut butter. Oh! Don’t forget your mask, thank you Darth Vader.
Dean Marsico: You have your mask on, you gently added into the bucket and you start mixing. Start at the bottom and go slow, now the one thing about these mixing this. It’s a good idea to hold the bucket between your legs and it’s a bad idea to get a little button and you push for you mixer and push it all the way down because guess what?
Derek Stearns: That bucket is in spin on you.
Dean Marsico: Now, hold it between your legs and start slow, start at the bottom and gently go up and down with the mix, after about 5 minutes stop.
Derek Stearns: Stop, let it sit and now color with the paper for about 5 minutes.
Dean Marsico: 5 to 10 minutes and?
Derek Stearns: Mix again.
Dean Marsico: And then you’re ready but here the classic mistake. If you’re working outside, it’s really hot out and you say, I’m brilliant. I’m going to add more water and make it thinner so it doesn’t dries.
Derek Stearns: No, no, don’t do that because it can dry faster and you going to make it weak.
Dean Marsico: Exactly.
Derek Stearns: And I don’t think so when you have all this proper steps in place you too thin set, thin and work with thin set properly.
Dean Marsico: And tile the wall, tile the wall everybody will love you.
Derek Stearns: Don’t listen to him please.
Dean Marsico: It’s all about love.
Derek Stearns: No it’s not.
