How to Monitor Windows XP Security Center

You have no doubt encounter the popup message from the Window security center or seeing the red shield icon in the taskbar notification area. Clicking either the notification balloon or icon opens the Window Security Center control panel.

This control panel allows you to control your firewall, updates and antivirus program. The status section provides information about your security settings. Items that need your attention have an orange or red bar. Clicking on either of the three bars will expand it to display additional information.

In this instance security center has it for me that my system has no virus protection installed. Select recommendations to view your options. If you do have an antivirus program installed and it’s not being recognized by security center I have an antivirus that I'll monitor myself check box and this will stop those continual warnings from security center.
