We are going to talk about how to build trust while getting your new business off the ground because if you are planning to open a computer repair shop, you need to remember that it is not a 50-yard dash, slow and steady wins the race.
Like most types of businesses you start up, it is a lot more like a marathon than just a quick sprint, and when it comes to starting a computer repair shop, you can’t just go in there with your guns blazing on day one and expect to get instant clients just by being aggressive and talking about yourself and talking how great you are and how great your services are. Maybe you feel like you are doing everything right when it comes marketing your new computer repair shop. Maybe you have joined some organizations, maybe you have gone to some networking meetings, maybe you have met with some non-competing business in the IT field. You know deeply niched specialist who do not compete directly with you. Maybe you have been given out business cards everywhere but you are still not getting any response. What are you doing wrong? What is the problem?
Well, you are probably have not given your efforts enough time to produce results because most of the time when you are coming into contact with people. Yeah every once in a while you get come into contact as you introduce yourself to someone and say, “Wow, your timing is perfect dude, I’ve got an IT emergency which just happened 30 seconds, your timing couldn’t have been better.” Well that can happen once in a while, but its not that likely to happen. So what you are essentially doing that you are training the people you come into contact with. You are training your prospect to know to call when the stuff hits the fan. So merely joining an organization is not going to be enough to get you through the doors of your shop.
If you have been active with your marketing activities for three to six months or so and you are still finding that nothings happening you probably need to try another organization or some other kind marketing purchase and one of the most important things that you want to be doing with mostly marketing is tracking very specifically how much time, and how much money is going into each and every campaign.
So if you spend a thousand dollars, or thousand pounds or whatever it is on direct mail campaign and took you 10 hours to plan it and send it out and everything like that, you want to keep track of that as your input and then you want to keep track up on the other side. How many leads that got you and how much revenue it got you. Along the same lines if you join the local chamber of commerce where you will certainly know what the cost. You should keep track of how many hours you put into it, and over a period of time, you should be able to tally up how many leads, and how much new business, how much new revenue came from that.
By keeping a simple spreadsheet and tracking all those things you will get tremendous insights into which things are working really well, which things are not working at all, and which things are kind of so-so. So, remember that computer repair marketing is a systematic process that needs to be measured and improved upon over time.
Secondly, I want you to remember that your computer repair shop needs to be built on personal relationships. A lot of people think when they are in the computer repair business that they are in the IT business or technology business and you are to a certain degree. But, the business will survive, thrive, and grow largely based on the value of your relationships, the value of your relationships of prospects and customers and clients, and partners and subcontractors and, and all the kinds of stake holders who are in a position to recommend business to you. And as you open up your computer repair shop, take everything slowly with new customers and let the relationships evolve overtime.
You cannot expect to go to one meeting with a prospect and close a 25,000-dollar sale. It can happen once in a while but most of the time you should not be getting up to the play expecting to hit a grand slam homerun every single time. It is a lot easier to just focus on getting on base with those singles, and if you seem to have that beginners luck, go right out and buy a lottery ticket. Go to, go to the casino, you know because the odds are just about the same or getting struck by lightning. Sometimes an expected client project Windfall will come up and literally land in your lap because your timing is perfect, but most of the time you really need to work on building the essential know who I can trust the personal relationships.
So if you have a warm personality, and you are friendly and charismatic, you will be able to build a great personal relationship. And you know, you want to be sincere, you want to make sure that your empathy is right on track and then working in computer repair means working with people. You cannot hide in the backroom; you cannot be a loner and expect to do well. You got to remember that it is all about personal relationships. First impressions are really important coming across professionally. You need to build a report with the people that you meet by dressing professionally, conducting yourself professionally and working on building that business chemistry. The rapport between you and your contacts.
You also want to make sure that you send business there way if you find someone who could need there services. So remember, first and foremost that computer repair marketing is a systematic process that needs to be measured and improved overtime.
